It can be frustrating when you try to remove an eSIM from your device and it just won't delete. Don't worry, this is usually due to a few common reasons and can often be resolved with some simple steps.
Here's what you can try:
Check Your Internet Connection: Ensure you have a stable and reliable internet connection (Wi-Fi or another cellular line). Unstable connections or networks with strict firewalls (like some public Wi-Fi or corporate networks) can interfere with the deletion process, as your device needs to communicate with the eSIM management server.
Disable VPNs or Private Relay: If you're using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or a privacy feature like Apple's Private Relay (iOS), temporarily turn it off. These services can mask your IP address or route your traffic in a way that prevents successful communication with the eSIM management server.
For iOS: Go to Settings Cellular Cellular Data Options toggle "Limit IP Address Tracking" off. If using iCloud Private Relay, go to Settings [Your Name] iCloud Private Relay toggle Private Relay off.
For Android: Go to Settings, search for "VPN," and toggle it off.
Restart Your Device: Sometimes, a simple restart can clear temporary glitches that might be preventing the eSIM from being deleted. Turn your phone completely off, wait 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
Try Safe Mode (Android Only): In rare cases on Android devices, other apps or system processes might interfere with eSIM deletion (e.g., if the device freezes or prevents deletion). Trying to delete your eSIM in Safe Mode can help circumvent these conflicts. (Steps to enter Safe Mode vary by Android device, typically found by pressing and holding the power button, then long-pressing the "Power off" option.)
Review Existing eSIMs: If you have many eSIMs installed on your device, it might be reaching its capacity for active or stored profiles. Consider if you can delete other unused eSIMs first, then retry deleting your Firsty eSIM.
Follow Standard Deletion Steps Carefully: Make sure you are following the correct steps for your device as outlined in our dedicated guide: How to delete an eSIM.
