Add or Edit a Container Type

Explains how to create new or edit existing Container Types in Inventory settings.

In order to ensure you have the right options available to you as you’re setting up container inventory and linking/assigning assets to customer’s services and locations, you want your Container types list to be accurate. Here’s how to set up or edit a new container type for your business.

Before taking this action, you’ll need to ensure you have correctly set up your container colors (Add or Edit a Container Type Color).

How to Add a New Container Type

  1. In the Hauler Hero office app, click the ⚙️ gear icon to open Settings.

  2. Click Inventory in the left sidebar to expand the dropdown menu.

  3. Select Container Types.

  4. Click + Add container type.

  5. Fill out the required details:

    1. Name

    2. Type

    3. Methods

    4. Associated business lines

  6. Choose whether you’d like to select a color or enable serialization. (See "Enable Serialization for a Container Type" for more).

  7. Click Add container type.

NOTE: When servicing a customer-owned container, you can create a “Customer owned” container type.


How to Edit a Container Type

  1. In the Hauler Hero office app, click the ⚙️ gear icon to open Settings.

  2. Click Inventory in the left sidebar to expand the dropdown menu.

  3. Select Container Types.

  4. Find the container you’d like to edit and click the vertical three dots icon to the right.

  5. Click Edit container type.

  6. Adjust the desired fields and click Update container type.


What Fields Can I Edit for a Container Type?

  • Name

  • Type

    • Open Top Box

    • Compactor

    • Front Load

    • Rear Load

    • Toter

  • Methods (❓Not seeing the Method you want? You may need to set up additional options in your Business lines settings, under Attributes.)

    • Front Load

    • Grapple

    • Hook

    • Hoist

    • Rear Load

    • Side Load

  • Associated business lines (❓Not seeing the Business line you want? You may need to set it up in Settings. Go to Business lines and then Create & Configure).

  • Container color

  • Enable or disable serialization
