Enabling serialization activates unique tracking for an entire category of containers, such as all ‘15 Yard Roll Offs’. This shifts from simply counting inventory of a certain type to managing each container as a distinct, serialized asset. This is essential for accurate location tracking, maintenance history, and detailed inventory management.
Note: Before you begin, ensure you have the necessary administrative permissions to access and modify business settings.
This feature is currently in an open beta. If you run into any issues or have feedback, reach out to support with the blue chat bubble in your Hauler Hero account or support@haulerhero.com.

How to Enable Serialization for a Container Type
From the Hauler Hero office app, click the gear icon ⚙️ to open the settings menu.
In the left-hand menu, click Inventory to expand the dropdown.
Click on Container Types.
Locate the container type you wish to update from the list and click the vertical three-dot icon at the end of the row.
Select Edit container type.
In the “Edit container type” window, ensure all required fields such as Name, Type, Methods, and Associated business lines are correctly filled.
(This is also where you can set the Container color. Not seeing the right option? It may need to be created in Inventory. See Add or Adjust a Container Type Color)
Click the Enable serialization toggle to turn it on.
Click Update container type to save your changes.
From the main Container types page, verify that the Serialization column for the updated container type now displays as Enabled. This confirms that all containers of this type will now be tracked individually by their serial number.
Tips:
For precise tracking, use serialization for unique assets like roll-off containers. For assets like front-load dumpsters where individual tracking isn’t critical, using non-serialized types can simplify management.
