Why would I replace or swap containers?
The name of the game is “proper inventory management.” The more accurately you help us track your inventory, the easier it becomes for us to keep your operations efficient and reliable.
Replacing or swapping a container at a given location used to mean having to remove the container from the service’s location and then adding a new one. Now, you can do it all in one go!
Before you start
Replacing or swapping a container is done within the Configured Service UI (the service’s detail page). To get there, start from a customers account, pick one of their locations, then select the service whose container you want to replace or swap.
Account > Locations > Services > Go to service page
You can also click the service’s name itself to be taken to that service’s detail page.
How do I replace or swap a container for a service?
1. Select the container you want to replace; click the … icon and then “Replace.”
Note that you can also replace a container from the Inventory section of the website. After selecting any specific container to open its Container Details view, you can find the Replace button in the upper right corner.
2. Select the container you want to replace the original container with.
You can filter and search through your inventory of containers to help you find the container you want to replace the original container with.
If “Update container location” is checked, then when you replace the container, it will update this new container’s location to be your original’s location.
If “Update container location” is unchecked, then when you replace the container, its current location will remain where it currently is.
3. Click “Replace Inventory” to record the replacement/swap.
Alternatively, click “Replace & Assign work order” to record the replacement/swap and associate it to a work order.
4. If associating it to a work order, you can specify if, along with provide notes for:
The new container is already on-site
You want to add the delivery of the new container to an existing work order
You want to create a new work order and to deliver the new container
When creating a new work order to track the container replacement/swap, note you can adjust what specific action you’d like the work order to be for. For replacements/swaps, it will default to “Swap.”
5. If you created a new work order to deliver the new container, you will se it show up in the service’s work order list.
