Before taking this action, you’ll need to ensure you have correctly set up your container colors (Add or Edit a Container Type Color) and your container types (see Add or Edit a Container Type).
Once you have your container types and colors set up in your Inventory settings, it’s time to add or edit your containers. You can do both of these actions either direct from the Inventory tab or right from the customer’s actual service location details.
How to Add a New Container from the Inventory Tab
From the Hauler Hero office app, click the Inventory tab.
Click + New Container in the top right.
Fill out the relevant fields in the Basic information and Additional Details sections.
You’ll want to ensure the Active toggle is on if you’re wanting to utilize it right away.
Click + Add container to inventory.
You’ll see a green “Container created successfully” notification.
How to Edit a Container from the Inventory Tab
Need to make a change? No problem.
Click the Inventory tab.
From the All containers page, find the container in question and click the vertical three dots icon on the right.

How to Add a New Container in Inventory from the Customer’s Service Page
This walks through how to create a new container on an existing customer’s location and service.
From the specific customer’s profile, make sure you’re on the Services tab.
Ensure the correct location is showing and click into the appropriate service (example: Residential | $25/monthly).
Now you have two ways to proceed, depending on which tab you’re on:
From the Details & pricing tab, in the Containers section, click + Create
Or, from the Map & routing tab, click the Containers toggle (instead of Routing) and click + Create.
This will open the Create container window. Fill out the appropriate fields: Container name, Container type, Measure, Default yard, and Quantity.
Feel free to drag and drop the location to specify the exact pin spot.
Click Save.
Verify that the new container now appears in the Containers list for the selected service location.
NOTE: Serialized containers cannot be created this way. You’ll see a warning prompting you to go to the Add Container page. See “How to Add a New Container from the Inventory Tab” above.
How to Edit a Container from the Customer’s Service Page

From the Details & pricing tab, you should see all applicable containers for this customer’s location and service under the Containers heading.
Find the specific container you want to adjust and click the edit icon 📝 to the right.
This will open up the specific container details page in Inventory.
Edit any information you need and click Save Changes.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What if we have customer-owned containers to deal with?
No problem. To track a customer-owned container, we recommend creating a non-serialized container and naming it descriptively (e.g., 'Customer-Owned 96gal'). It's still movable and trackable, just without an enforced serial number.
