What happens to money sent to my old ACH details after 30 September?

Payments to your old ACH details are returned to the sender, not credited to nsave. How long returns take and what to do if a payment bounced.

Your old ACH details closed on Wednesday 30 September 2026 and no longer accept payments. This article explains what happens to money sent to them, how long returns take, and what to do if a payment has bounced.

What happens to the money

Any payment arriving at your old ACH details on or after 30 September is returned to the sending bank or platform. It is not credited to your nsave account, and we are not able to intercept or redirect it. The money goes back to the sender, not to you.

Your nsave balance is not affected, and your SWIFT / IBAN details, card, stablecoin and ntag all work normally.

How long returns take

Returns typically take 14 business days or more to reach the sender. If a payment bounced, the sender should expect the funds back in their bank account or platform balance within that time frame. We recommend not waiting for the return before arranging another payment.

Was my payment affected?

  • Arrived on or before Tuesday 29 September: it was credited to your nsave account as normal.

  • Arrived on or after Wednesday 30 September: it is returned to the sender, even if it was sent before the closure. ACH takes 1 to 3 business days and doesn't move at weekends, so a payment sent in the last days of September may have landed after the closure.

What to do if a payment bounced

  1. Contact the sender. Tell them the payment to your old ACH details is being returned, and that the return can take 14 business days or more.

  2. Get paid another way now. Ask them to re-send to your USD or EUR IBAN (free to open while you wait for your new ACH details), or your GBP IBAN if you already have one, in stablecoin (USDT or USDC), or by ntag. See how to receive money while ACH is being transitioned. If they'd rather pay by ACH, they can send to your new ACH details once yours are ready. New details are rolling out now and we'll email you when yours are available.

  3. If a platform paid you (Upwork, Fiverr, Payoneer), check the payment status in your platform account. Returned payouts usually reappear in your platform balance once the return completes, and you can then withdraw them to your new details.
