Training Hub: Rx30

Get started with Updox and Rx30: activating Updox in Rx30, signing in with the Updox icon, and printing, faxing, and texting between the two.

This page is for pharmacies that use Updox with Rx30. Work through it in order. Skip any product your pharmacy doesn’t have.

Before you start

  • You need Rx30 build 18353 or later. If you’re on an earlier build, contact Rx30 to update it, then restart your system.

  • You also need the Rx30 New Look screen. You’ll know you have it when the Updox U icon appears in the toolbar. Select Tools to check.

Activate Updox in Rx30

  1. Select the Updox U icon (under Tools).

  2. When asked to enroll in Updox, press Y.

  3. If you see “Initial User Must First Link Account,” press Enter. Enable Updox, then enter the email address of the user who first registered with Updox. The email is case sensitive, so type it exactly as it was registered.

  4. Press F7 to finish activation.

  5. Press F1 to refresh Rx30. The line under the U icon should no longer be red. If it’s still red, sign out of Rx30 and back in.

When activation is done, the U icon turns yellow or green, depending on whether you have items in your Updox Inbox.

Seeing an Updox Registration page instead? Either registration wasn’t finished or your Rx30 License ID doesn’t match. Contact Support to check the License ID on file. You can find it in Rx30 under System > Employee > Config.

Signing in

Updox uses single sign-on with Rx30.

  • To open Updox, select the U icon (under Tools).

  • Every user needs a unique email address in Rx30, and their name must be formatted “Last name, First name.” Make these changes in Rx30 (F1).

  • Admins: users appear in Updox under Menu > Admin > Users after their first sign-in.

  • Virtual printer: Rx30 users don’t have Updox passwords. Use your pharmacy’s Integration Key (Menu > Admin > Pharmacy Information) or create printer credentials (Menu > Profile > Printer Credentials).

Printing from Rx30 to Updox

  1. In Rx30, go to F1 Menu > System > Printers.

  2. Add a printer named Updox using the Updox PDF File option, and note its printer number.

  3. Print to that number to send documents to Updox. They appear in your Inbox as an Upload.

Faxing in Rx30

  • Sending a fax: print to the Updox printer and choose Fax instead of Send to Updox.

  • Inbound faxes: view them in Rx30 under F8 Queues > Fax Queue and Reporting.

  • Clear items in both places. Deleting or archiving in Rx30 doesn’t change Updox, and the other way around.

  • Show an unread count in Rx30: set Date/Time Cycle Delay to 2 under F1 > System > Store.

Fax for a fill request:

  1. Open the patient and select the medication.

  2. Press F5 for Dr. Approval.

  3. Enter the fax number, then press F5 to send.

Texting from Rx30

  • Press Alt-T from a patient record, fill, edit, or PRH review to send a text.

  • Canned messages use your Updox templates. Custom messages can only be sent from Updox.

  • Patient replies appear only in Updox.
