Step 1: Login to Book Creator and create your Classroom Library
Make sure to adjust the library settings to suit your needs.
You now have two options:
Option 1: Create a new book when the student joins your library. They will be able to choose the size and type of book themselves and will be given a blank book to work from.
Option 2: Create a blank template and Assign the book to students so that they will all receive a blank book that is the same size and style. (Visit the section below, "Create from a Template Book" for more details.)
Step 2: Copy the invite code to invite your students
In your library, click on 'show invite code' and copy the link or the code to share with your students.
If you copy the link and share with your students, it will be quicker for students to go straight into the library.
Step 3: Create a new assignment in Google Classroom
In Google Classroom, go to Classwork, click Create, and select Assignment.
On the assignment screen, add a title and any instructions for students. Be sure to Attach the link to join your Book Creator library.
For a blank book, you may want to instruct students to click on + New Book after they join the library to get started, or if you have a preference of which size or style of blank book you want your class to create.
Note: Page Templates are only available in Landscape and Portrait book sizes currently.
Step 4: View Work and Provide Feedback
You can view your students' work in real-time as they are creating in Book Creator. Using the Commenting feature, you can provide feedback on individual pages using text, voice, video, emojis, and stickers.
You can also provide overall feedback with Google Classroom rubrics and feedback tools once students 'Mark as done' in Google Classroom.
Note: If you want to stop students from working on their assignments after the deadline, go back into your library settings and turn off 'Edit their own books.'
🪄 Create a Template Book
You can access hundreds of templates in Book Creator’s content library, or you can create your own resource. This allows you to provide scaffolding, create multimedia content for students, or to set particular design parameters.

Step 1: Login to Book Creator and create your Classroom Library
To access Book Creator's curriculum-aligned and engaging content, visit the Discover tab in the Teacher Dashboard.
You can also create your own Template Book in your classroom library from creating a new, blank book and adding the content that you wish to use with your students.
Step 2: Make sure to adjust the library settings
Since you'll be assigning the same Template Book to all or many of your students, you may wish to turn off 'Read each other's books' so students don't get confused by seeing multiple copies of the same book in the library.
Step 3: Assign the book to students
Once your Template Book is ready, you will assign a copy of the book to students by clicking on the share icon, then Assign book.
You'll then have two options:
Option 1: Assign book to everybody who is already in the library (or who will join your library in the future). The next time they login or refresh, they will be automatically given an editable copy of the Template Book.
Option 2: Assign book to select students by inviting the students into the library first, and then selecting which students will receive the assigned Template Book.
The steps are then the same as above for inviting students into your library and creating the assignment in Google Classroom.
Step 4: Copy the invite code to invite your students
In your library, click on 'show invite code' and copy the link or the code to share with your students.
If you copy the link and share with your students, it will be quicker for students to go straight into the library.
Step 5: Create a new assignment in Google Classroom
In Google Classroom, go to Classwork, click Create, and select Assignment.
On the assignment screen, add a title and any instructions for students. Be sure to Attach the link to join your Book Creator library.
When students click on the link, they will join your library and will see a copy of the book that is editable.
Step 6: View Work and Provide Feedback
You can view your students' work in real-time as they are creating in Book Creator. Using the Commenting feature, you can provide feedback on individual pages using text, voice, video, emojis, and stickers.

Note: If you want to stop students from working on their assignments after the deadline, go back into your library settings and turn off 'Edit their own books.'
🪄 Create a Collaborative Book
If you’d like your students to work together to create or edit a book, you have a few options:
Option 1: All students work together in one book - after you create a book, you will invite all of your students to work on a single book, but you'll need a Premium Book Creator license for this. (Read further for instructions on how to do this.)
Option 2: Combine individual student books into one book to create a collaborative book after each book is completed.
