How can I update multiple containers’ locations at once?

Discusses how haulers can update multiple containers’ locations in a given route

If you have a route with multiple containers needing a location update, this bulk function is for you!

How do I update multiple containers’ locations at once?

First, click the blue Bulk button and click “Change Container Location.”

Then, select the route whose containers you need to update locations for.

Then, for every location whose container(s) you need to update the location for:

  • Select the location

  • Click and drag the location pin where it needs to go

    • You’ll notice the latitude and longitude at the top will update as you move the location pin around

Once you’ve moved all the containers’ location pins you needed to move, click “Update” in the bottom-right corner.

What’s that button offering to snap my containers to the road?

Alternatively, you can adjust all the containers across the route with our snap-to-road feature.

  • Snap # Containers to Road / Nearest Road -- This will attempt to anchor every container on this route to its nearest road.

  • Stop Location (accessible via the split menu) -- This will position every container on this route to its stop’s pin’s location; the stop’s latitude and longitude.

  • Driver Path (accessible via split menu) -- If, and only if, a driver path is available for us to reference, this will attempt to anchor every container on this route to its nearest point on that driver’s path.

Whichever snap approach you choose, you’ll see a preview of which stops it was able to successfully relocate and which need a second look before you save your containers’ locations.

You can adjust the “Flag Moves Over” slider to limit the threshold of what container moves you want to review before updating anything’s location. The “Snap complete, # to review” number is always the sum of the number of flagged and failed moves.

Click the Moving, Flagged, and Failed filters to quickly focus on which container moves you want to review.

  • Moving -- These stops were able to be moved by the system according to whichever snap-to approach you chose.

  • Flagged -- These stops were able to be moved, but their containers moved more than the threshold you chose in the slider below the filter. In the screenshot below, any container that moved more than 100 feet is flagged for review.

  • Failed -- These stops were not able to be moved for one reason or another; don’t forget to address these, else the system will skip moving them.

Click the Locate icon (shaped like a square crosshair) for container we were able to move.

You can click and drag the container to move its location as you see fit. Doing so will change the “Updating” label to “Placed by hand.”

Any containers we were not able to snap and move will provide a “no match” label. Click “Place at…” to move use a different snap approach.

For example, we choose “Stop location” since it wasn’t able to snap to the nearest road. Then, it’ll move the container to the stop’s location, labeling it as “Moved to stop.”

After which, you can click and drag to move the container where you need it to be.

Rinse and repeat until all the containers on your route have their updated locations, then click “Update # Locations” to save all your containers’ new locations.

Important Caveats

Changes made to stops before you’ve made yours

  • Let’s say you’re working on moving containers A, B, and C. Now, let’s say your teammate moves B before you’ve clicked the Update # Locations button.

  • Hauler Hero will update A and C’s containers, but not B’s. This is by design; we choose not to overwrite your teammate’s change without you reviewing it.

Limitations to what bulk updates can be undone

  • Undo is available straight after you make a bulk update, from the same browser you made it in, for up to 24 hours. Only your most recent bulk update can be undone; if you run another one, the earlier one can no longer be undone.

  • Any containers that have moved since your last update will not be restored.
