Your nsave Virtual Card — What You Can (and Can't) Do With It

This article explains how your nsave virtual card works, what it is designed for, what it is not designed for, and how specific situations — such as linking it to PayPal — work in practice.

What the nsave card is for: spending

Your nsave virtual card is a spending card. It is not a bank account card and is not intended for receiving or withdrawing funds. You can use it to:

  • Make online purchases on websites and apps

  • Pay for subscriptions (streaming, SaaS tools, Ai tools etc.)

  • Shop at in-store or contactless terminals where Visa is accepted

  • Add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay (where supported) for tap-to-pay

  • Link it to PayPal for online purchases and payments (see important notes below)

ℹ️ How to think of your nsave card: Think of it like a prepaid Visa card for spending, Your card balance is your spending balance.

What the nsave card is NOT for

The following actions are not supported by the nsave virtual card:

  • Receiving payments from other people or platforms

  • Withdrawing funds to another account

  • Using it as a PayPal withdrawal or cash-out destination

⛔ Important: the card cannot receive PayPal transfers or withdrawals :

Even if you successfully link and verify your nsave card in PayPal, it will not receive any money, Attempting to transfer funds from PayPal to your nsave card may fail or the transfer may be blocked. Do not use your nsave card as a PayPal cash-out method.

Linking your nsave card to PayPal

You can link your nsave card to PayPal to make purchases and payments online. This is a supported use case. However, there are important details to understand about the linking process itself.

PayPal card verification charges

When you add a card to PayPal, PayPal typically initiates a small verification transaction (for example, a charge of around $1.95) to confirm that the card is ready for withdrawals. This is a standard PayPal process and is not unique to nsave.

It’s important to note that linking a card involves two steps:

  1. The initial linking step, where the card is added to PayPal.

  2. The full confirmation step, which is required if the user wants to use the card for withdrawals (not recommended for your nsave card).

⛔ Important: Your nsave card is only designed for payments and purchases, and it does not support the second step required for withdrawals. In such cases, your nsave card can still be used for making payments, but it cannot be used to withdraw funds.

⚠️ Warning: PayPal verification charges may not be credited back :

Any amount charged by PayPal during card verification (such as $1.95 or a similar small sum) should not be assumed to be automatically refunded or credited back to your nsave card. This charge is part of PayPal's verification process and its handling is determined by PayPal, not nsave. Please do not expect a refund for the PayPal verification charge, as nsave does not control or guarantee the return of this amount.

Purchases vs. verification charges — the difference

It is important to distinguish between two different types of card activity:

Type

Example

What happens

Normal purchase

You buy something on a website using your nsave card

If the merchant processes a refund, the refunded amount is credited back to your nsave card balance as spendable credit

PayPal verification charge

PayPal charges ~$1.95 when you add your card to your PayPal account

This is treated as a withdrawal. It is a verification fee, not a purchase. It may not be refunded. Do not expect it to be returned automatically as it is not designed to be reversed

How refunds work on the nsave card

If a merchant processes a refund for a purchase you made with your nsave card, the refunded amount is credited back to your nsave balance. Here is what to know:

  • Refunds appear as credit in your account balance once processed by the merchant

  • Refund timelines vary by merchant — it can take a few business days up to few business weeks.

  • Refunded credit can be spent using your card or withdrawn to a bank account or external wallet.
