Settings - Unit Types

Define the kinds of units inspected at multi-unit accounts

Written by Rosie O'hara

Summary

A Unit Type describes a kind of space within a multi-unit property — for example, Apartment, Common Area, or Commercial Suite. Defining your unit types here gives techs a consistent set of options in the mobile app when inspecting or logging service at the unit level, keeping records organized across larger accounts, and enabling unit-by-unit reporting.

Key Points

  • Create a unit type for each kind of space your techs service at multi-unit accounts

  • Techs assign these on the mobile app when inspecting or servicing a unit

  • Consistent unit types keep large-account records organized and reportable

How to Get to Unit Types

  1. From the top of the Navigation menu, click on Settings (gear icon)

  2. Click on Unit Types

How to Create a Unit Type

Click the New Unit Type button in the upper right.

  1. Enter the Unit Type Name

  2. Click the green Create Unit Type button to save

Choosing Good Unit Types

  • Match the structures you actually service — residential, commercial, or both.

  • Keep names broad enough to reuse across many accounts rather than naming individual units.

  • Don't over-split. A short, clear list is faster for techs and cleaner in reports.

Examples

Common unit types include:

  • Apartment

  • Townhouse

  • Common Area

  • Commercial Suite

  • Office

  • Kitchen / Food Prep

  • Storage

Important Note: Anytime you change something in Settings, your techs must Reload Data in the mobile app to see the change.
