How do I change how my service’s name shows up on customer invoices?

This article is for haulers looking to customize the name configured services show up as on customer invoices.

What is “Billing Name” and what does it mean for me?

Sometimes the name your team uses internally for a service isn’t the same name you want your customers seeing on their invoices.

Previously, changing how a service was labeled on your invoices meant deactivating and creating a new one. The “Billing Name” field removes that hassle and lets you manage it in seconds.

“Billing Name” lets you set a customer-facing name for any of your configured services so that your invoices read exactly how you want them to, all while keeping its behind-the-scenes Service Name intact for routing, reporting, whatever your team depends on.

In short:

  • “Billing Name” is what your customers see.

  • “Service Name” is what you and your team see.

Note: If “Billing Name” is blank for your configured service, then the “Service Name” will print on the invoice.

Before you start

Make sure you're the Service Detail Page of the configured service you want to manage the Billing Name for.

You get quickly get to it via Customer > Services > Locations > Select the service > Edit > Billing Name.

You can also get to it via the Configured Service UI, which appears when you click the “Service Name” you see under the Services accordion.

How do I edit the Billing Name?

1. Once you’re in the Edit section of the configured service you want to adjust the Billing Name for, enable the toggle "Different Billing Name" above the Billing Name field.

2. Type in how you want that service to show up on your customer’s invoice, then click Save.

Note you can also edit the Billing Name via the Configured Services UI accessible by clicking the Service Name under the Service’s accordion. Click “Adjust Service” to bring up the Edit dialog.

3. You can see how your Billing Name will appear on your customer’s future invoices by going to Customer > Billing > Create Invoice.

4. Previous invoices will retain whatever name the service had when that invoice was generated.

5. Note that whenever you edit the “Billing Name,” the app will track it in that configured service’s Activity History log.
