Adding more mailboxes to your plan

How to buy and set up additional SMTP mailboxes on your existing plan, and what to do if you need a custom amount. New or additional Google Workspace allotment isn't currently available to purchase; existing Google Workspace slots can still be used.

Need more sending capacity? You can add extra mailboxes to your existing plan at any time. There are two steps: buy the add-on, then create the new mailboxes.

Minimum purchase: mailboxes are bought in quantities of at least 10 at a time — for both SMTP and Google Workspace mailboxes.

Google Workspace: new allotment isn't currently available to purchase, so the add-on flow below is for SMTP mailboxes; unused Google Workspace slots already on your plan can still be used in step 2. Current status: Google Workspace mailboxes.

How much do SMTP mailboxes cost?

SMTP mailbox pricing is volume-based: the number of Maildoso accounts in your subscription sets the per-mailbox monthly rate for your whole account.

  • 0–29 mailboxes: $2.80 / mailbox / month

  • 30–299 mailboxes: $2.50 / mailbox / month

  • 300–999 mailboxes: $0.75 / mailbox / month

  • 1,000+ mailboxes: $0.50 / mailbox / month

Full breakdown, including packages: Pricing.

1. Buy more mailboxes

  • Quickest way: on the Home page, click +10, +20 or +50 next to "keep a buffer of email accounts", or Custom for another amount. You can also click Get more at the top of any page.

  • Or click Packages & Add-ons in the left menu and keep Custom plan selected. On the Maildoso accounts card, click + to choose how many SMTP mailboxes to add (minimum 10). Current value under the counter shows how many you already have, and the card tells you how many more unlock the next, lower rate.

  • Complete checkout. Your new mailbox allowance is added to your account right away.

  • Once slots are purchased, mailboxes can also be created via the API or MCP.

2. Create your new mailboxes

  • Go to Email accounts and click Add more email accounts at the bottom of the list.

  • At the top, pick the mailbox type: Maildoso (SMTP) or Google — each shows how many you have available. Google can only be used if you already have unused Google Workspace slots. Once you use a domain with Google or Maildoso, it stays linked to that provider.

  • For each row, enter the First name, Last name and Mailbox name, then choose the domain(s) in the Domain field. You can select several domains in one row, and Apply to all rows copies the domain selection to every row. Use Add new line for more rows.

  • Click Continue, check the list in Check created mailboxes, and confirm with Register mailboxes.

  • Wait for the mailboxes to show as Active — usually 30 to 90 minutes; until then they show Setup awaiting or Setup processing. No additional steps are required.

Good to know

  • If mailboxes still aren't Active after 90 minutes, check the domain's status on the Domains page — mailboxes only activate once their domain is Active. For an external domain, check that Maildoso's nameservers are set at your registrar; for a domain registered through Maildoso, contact us with the domain name.

  • Mailboxes can only be created on root domains, not subdomains (name@example.com works, name@sales.example.com doesn't). For more separation, use a separate domain.

  • Each domain can host up to 99 mailboxes — the Email Accounts column on the Domains page shows how many each domain has (e.g. 4 / 99). Spread mailboxes across domains to limit risk.

  • You can also create mailboxes from the Domains page: select domains and choose Bulk actions → Create mailboxes.

  • After provisioning, plan for a two-week warmup (unless the mailboxes are on pre-warmed domains).

  • To delete mailboxes, select them on the Email accounts page and choose Bulk actions → Delete selected accounts.

  • If the Home page shows something like "0/30" for Maildoso email accounts, no mailboxes have been created yet — add a domain and create mailboxes; the counter updates as you go.

If you need a custom number of mailboxes

On the Custom plan you can set any quantity from 10 upwards. If the dashboard doesn't let you buy the exact amount you need, contact us with your account email and the quantity, and we'll add that allowance for you. For a different mix of mailboxes and domains altogether, see Changing or switching your plan.

Adding more domains

Add domains on the Domains card on the same Packages & Add-ons page ($15 per domain per year, minimum 1). If you need to start sending right away, pre-warmed domains are available there too. Not sure how many domains your new mailboxes need? Contact us and we'll help you plan.
