2017 Release Announcements

Updated over a month ago

December 28, 2017

Today we released several features including an improved Scorecard Library, expanded Season Points capabilities, the ability to organize events by season, enhancements for online registration and credit card processing, and course abbreviations on the leaderboard for multi-round and multi-course events. These features will save you time and improve the golfer experience.

Improved Scorecard Library

______________________________________________

Prior to this release, Managers were able to create scorecards from scratch, save the scorecards as templates, and use these scorecard templates for other events. In this way, a Manager could build up their own library of scorecard templates.

With this release, we've introduced a system library of scorecard templates covering a variety of cases including:

  • Scorecards for foursomes, fivesomes, or sixsomes (with no team line, net team line, or gross team line)

  • Scorecards for match play (singles or pairs)

  • Scorecards for 2-person teams

  • Scorecards for scrambles

  • Scorecards for 3/3/3, 6/6/6, and 9/9 formats

These system templates allow the Manager to use them "out of the box" to quickly produce scorecards, or further customize the scorecard as needed for a given event.

As before, Managers can save a customized scorecard as a new template in their scorecard library, or update an existing template in their library.

When updating an existing template, it's no longer necessary to save the template under a new template name. In this way, Managers can continue to refine and improve their scorecard library while keeping it cleanly organized.

Over time, we will expand the system library of scorecard templates to cover other common cases.

For full details on the Scorecard Library, refer to our Knowledge Base article.

Season Points
______________________________________________

This release introduces an expanded set of capabilities for Season Points including the ability to:

  • Configure season points

    • Create and manage season point races (e.g. Amateur Player of the Year, Senior Player of the Year, Junior Player of the Year, etc).

    • Establish and apply eligibility criteria (e.g. age, Handicap Index, etc) to each season point race

    • Create point allocation tables (for both stroke play and match play scenarios) and associate them with various events

    • Configure how points will be awarded for each event (including the ability to configure awards by division and flight)

  • Award season points

    • Automatically calculate awards at the completion of a single-round or multi-round event

    • View and adjust the awards as needed

    • Award points for outside events

  • View season points

    • View the points standings in the event portal or via an iFrame embedded into the club website

    • Ability to select a player and view the breakdown of underlying awards

For full details on Season Points, refer to our Knowledge Base article.

Organize Events by Season
______________________________________________

Prior to this release, Managers could organize events into user-defined Categories (e.g. Men's Events, Women's Events, etc). While this was useful to organize events by type, there was no way to organize events by time frame. Consequently, the Manager would have to manually archive all events at the end of the season in order to prepare for the new season. Once archived, all events were placed in the "Archived" category and were no longer organized by type. In this way, the "Archived" category would grow over time into a long unstructured list of events.

With this release, we've introduced the optional ability to organize events into user-defined Seasons. For example, clubs in northern climates would likely create seasons that coincide with the calendar year (e.g. 2016, 2017, 2018, etc) while clubs in southern climates (as shown in the example below) would likely create seasons that straddle calendar years (e.g. 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18, etc). In addition to defining the list of seasons, the Manager also identifies the "current season" which is considered the default.

Allowing the Manager to organize events by type (Category) and time frame (Season) greatly simplifies the process of rolling over to a new Season while ensuring that events remain organized by Category. To move to a new season, the Manager simply creates a new season (e.g. "2017-18"), marks it as the "current season", and assigns all newly created/cloned events to the new season. Prior events no longer need to be manually archived because they are already tagged with the correct Category and Season. If the Manager needs to look up a past event, they can simply select the desired season to quickly find the event. Otherwise, their normal view will default to the current season (as shown below).

For full details on Organizing Events by Season, refer to our Knowledge Base article.

Unification of Category and Directory
______________________________________________

In addition to the concept of Category (how the Manager organizes events as viewed by themselves through the Manager Site), Golf Genius Software also provides the concept of Directory (how the Manager organizes events as viewed by golfers through event listings in the club website). Prior to this release, Category and Directory were independently controlled. To the extent that a Manager wished these to be aligned with each other (e.g. having a "Men's Events" category and a "Men's Events" directory containing the same set of events), they had to maintain each of these separately to keep them in sync. The need to update both could be easily overlooked by the Manager thus resulting in a Directory (golfer view) where events were missing.

With this release, the Manager now has the option to automatically align a given Directory with one or more Categories. In this way, the Manager simply tags a new event to the desired Category (at the time of creating or cloning an event) and the related Directories will be automatically updated.

The new concept of Seasons has also been incorporated into Directories. This allows the Manager to maintain a single set of Directories (e.g. Men's Events, Women's Events, etc) that automatically display the set of events in the "current season". This eliminates the need to uncheck all of last year's events and individually check all of this year's events as they are created.

Managers who prefer the prior behavior still have the option of maintaining Categories and Directories independently of one another by choosing the "select leagues and events manually" option shown in the screenshot above.

For full details on the Unification of Category and Directory, refer to our Knowledge Base article.

Pending Registration and Waitlists
______________________________________________

This release introduces an optional Pending Registration stage to the online registration process. If the Manager enables Pending Registration, all players will be placed in a pending state when they complete their online registration. If credit card payments are required, the player will enter these details during the online registration process and the card will be authorized but not charged. The Manager is later able to review the list of registrants, promote players to the confirmed roster, and (if applicable) charge the player's credit card.

We've also made improvements to Waitlist management. Prior to this release, Managers could set a cap on the number of players in an event and a waiting list would form automatically after all available spots were filled. In this release, we've redesigned the Manage Waitlist page. Managers can now:

  • Click on a player's name to view the player details

  • Select multiple players and promote them in one bulk action

  • Optionally charge credit cards when promoting players to the confirmed list (or skip this step and charge the credit cards later)

For full details on managing Pending Registrations, refer to our Knowledge Base article.

For full details on managing Waitlists, refer to our Knowledge Base article.

Course Abbreviations on Leaderboard
______________________________________________

Multi-round events are sometimes played across two courses when the field is large. In these cases, half the field plays Course A in Round 1 while the other half plays Course B, and vice versa in Round 2. To better support circumstances like this, the Manager now has the option to display the course abbreviation on the leaderboard.

When enabled, these abbreviations will appear in all presentations of the leaderboard (event portal, TV display, and mobile app). In the example below, we show the leaderboard as it would appear after Round 2 is complete.

For full details on Course Abbreviations on Leaderboards, refer to our Knowledge Base article.

October 17, 2017

This morning we released an update to our mobile app on both Android and iOS. This release updates the look and feel of the mobile app and incorporates modern navigation gestures to improve the user experience and ease of navigation.

Summary of changes:

  • Updated Login Page to make it easy for a golfer to access the mobile app

  • Updated Menu to make it easy for a golfer to quickly navigate as needed

  • Updated Score Entry Page with improved presentation, score entry, and navigation

  • Ability to quickly swipe between Score Entry and Leaderboard

  • Updated Scorecard to improve presentation and highlight scores (birdies, bogeys, etc) in different colors

  • Updated Photo Gallery Page to make it easy to upload photos and navigate photo galleries

In the new login page, the golfer first chooses how they want to login (either with a GGID or with email/password) and then enters the appropriate information.

Login Screen

Menu

The menu is now organized in two sections. The top section ("On the Course") makes it easy for a golfer to quickly find and select the features they need on the golf course including Score Entry, Leaderboard, and Photo Gallery. The bottom section ("Others") is a collection of tools used before and after the round including Scorecards, Tee Sheets, and Member Portal.

Menu

It's easy to access the menu from any page in the mobile app simply by selecting the menu icon in the upper left hand corner.

Score Entry

The Score Entry page has been revamped to improve both presentation and usability.

The current hole (including par and yardage) is displayed at the top of the page along with quick access to the previous hole and the next hole. Player name and score are displayed in a larger font to improve readability and dots are shown next to each player's gross score.

Scores are now entered using a keypad (which replaces the old approach of using the "+" and "-" buttons to enter each score). The golfer simply enters the score for each player and the focus automatically moves to the next player in the group, thereby minimizing the number touches required to quickly enter the scores. Golfers can also quickly clear a score, enter an "X" when a hole is picked up, or undo changes.

Golfers can swipe to the left from Score Entry to quickly jump to the Leaderboard, and swipe to the right to quickly jump back to Score Entry. Or they can move back and forth by tapping on "Leaderboard" and "Scoring" in the top bar.

Enter Scores

Scorecard

To improve appearance and readability, the scorecard is displayed in a larger font and scores are highlighted by color to indicate birdies, bogeys, etc.

Photo Gallery

In the previous version of the app it was difficult to see what photos had been updated or which album a photo was a part of. With this release we've added a Gallery button. Golfers can swipe left or right to scroll through pictures or alternatively swipe at the bottom of the page to scroll through the list of thumbnails.

Photo Gallery

These improvements were motivated by customer feedback. We're excited to deliver this latest version of the mobile app as part of our commitment to listen, learn, and continue improving Golf Genius.

August 31, 2017

This morning we released a product update with several new features including Player Default Tees, the ability for members to register and pay for themselves and their guests, cancellations & refunds, and various improvements to both the Report Composer and Scorecard Composer. The release also includes several usability enhancements as we continue to invest in ongoing improvements to the user experience.

-------------------

Player Default Tees

A popular feature is the ability to set the default tee for men and the default tee for women for each course (Gender Default Tee). This allows the Customer Manager to quickly assign all of the players in an event to the Gender Default Tee. Any exceptions would then be applied by selecting players and assigning them to the correct tee (e.g. senior players playing on the forward tees).

With this release, we've expanded the default tees capability to introduce Player Default Tees at the Master Roster level. For example, all men over 65 could be assigned to the forward tees as their Player Default Tee (as shown below). These defaults are later used when the Customer Manager assigns players to tees within an event. Players with a Player Default Tee are assigned to that tee while players with no Player Default Tee are assigned to the Gender Default Tee. As before, players can be individually selected and placed on different tees at any point in time.

You can read more about this feature in our Knowledge Base here.

Registration and Payment for a Member and their Guests

Prior to this release, payments in Open Registration could be collected for a team of members (member event) or a team of guests (outside event). With this release, it's now possible for a member to register and pay for a team that includes themselves and their guests (and/or other members). This is controlled by the selection of the Registration Type when configuring the registration form (as shown below).

You can read more about this feature in our Knowledge Base here.

Cancellations and Refunds

In the past golfers using Open Registration wanting a refund would have had to contact Customer Managers outside the context of their registration to request a refund. Customer Managers granting the refund would then have had to process the refund within Stripe. With this release we've added the option to Open Registration for a Customer Manager to allow for golfers to request refunds. Should a refund be requested the Customer Manager will have the option to approve or reject the refund. Refunds can be processed for Open Registration, Round Signups, and Invoices. See below for a screenshot demonstrating the processing of a refund.

Refund can be processed for full amount, fixed amount, or as a percentage

Report Composer Improvements

Based on feedback from our user community, we've introduced several new data fields in the Report Composer including:

  • Flight Name

  • Flight Number

  • Day of Week

  • Team Based Scoreboards for greater than two person teams

  • Division Names

  • Team Names

  • Short Round Dates

  • Hole Statistics

  • Hole Labels

  • Multiple Name Formats (First & Last Initials can now be added separately to the report)

  • Handicap Analysis

  • Rank (First, Second, Third etc)

  • Course & Tee Abbreviations

  • Hole Related Fields (Label, Par, Yardage, Handicap)

  • Team Related Fields (Rank, Score, Handicap, etc)

  • Hole Label Relative to Starting Hole

Below are a few examples of the new reports that can now be created in the Report Composer.

First & Last Initial Fields

We’ve also simplified the setup of custom scoreboards in the Report Composer.

You can read more about this feature in our Knowledge Base here.

Scorecard Composer Improvements

In the past, scorecards for match play competitions between individuals would print in the order of the pairings (1v2 and 3v4). With this release scorecards can now be printed for singles matches independently from the ordering of the pairings (1v3 and 2v4). As a time saving feature, we’ve introduced a “Preview” tab to show the exact rendering of the scorecards that will be printed. This makes it easy for the user to modify the scorecard design, quickly see exactly how it will appear, and continue to make changes as needed to reach a final design.

Scorecard Composer Preview Tab

Additional scorecard composer enhancements are listed below:

  • Opacity Sliders now default to 100%

  • Marker's Notes with handicap strokes now show in the preview

  • Autodetect Tees for Team Scorecards

  • Ability to show or hide initial Course Handicap when using a percentage of Course Handicap in tournament

  • Emergency scorecards can now be printed as Team Scorecards as well

  • Each gender's handicap percentage can now be printed on the scorecard

  • Improvements in sizing the scorecard footer

  • Highlight starting hole in preview and customize color

You can read more about this feature in our Knowledge Base here.

Other Important Enhancements

  • When adding players to an existing team's registration, we do not allow players to be added if this were to cause them to be waitlisted. If they're already on the waitlist, we allow for additional team members to be added.

  • TEK GPS screens in golf carts will now display golfer's handicaps

  • Multiple timestamps will now be displayed under the Master Roster tab if applicable. These would include syncs with GHIN and additional integrations used to update the Master Roster.

  • Open Registration can now be setup such that all players are directed to the waitlist allowing the Customer Manager to choose who will play.

  • Tee Abbreviations will now be optional to show or hide on all reports

  • New Parimutuel Report that displays all bets placed on each competitor

  • Points won within a Nassau Match are now awarded as they are won rather then after the round has been moved to "Completed".

June 27, 2017

This morning we released a product update with several new features including the ability for each scorecard to automatically reflect only the tees played in each pairing group, expanded ABCD options, customizable coloring of scores on the leaderboard, and improvements to match play status. The release also includes several usability enhancements as we continue to invest in ongoing improvements to the user experience.

-------------------

Scorecards: Print Tees Played in the Pairing Group

Often multiple tees are used in a single event. In some pairing groups, everyone plays from the same tee. In other pairing groups, players may be split across multiple tees. In these cases the customer manager typically wants the scorecards to reflect the tees used in each pairing group.

Prior to this product update, the customer manager was required to print scorecards in multiple batches to achieve the desired result. This involved selecting one or more groups, then selecting the set of tees for a given batch, and repeating this process until all batches were produced. While manageable, this manual process required several steps which in some cases needed to be repeated when the scorecards didn't turn out as expected.

With this release we've resolved all of these issues. We now allow the customer manager to print all scorecards in a single batch while ensuring that each scorecard shows only the tees played by the players in the pairing group. For instance, if all four players in a pairing group are on the blue tee, we will only print the blue tee on the scorecard. If three players are on the blue tee and one is on the white, we will print the blue tee followed by the white tee. This feature is especially useful when printing single player scorecards where each player will now have only their tee automatically printed on the scorecard. This feature is controlled by a new setting ("Print tees played by golfers in the pairing group"). This setting will be enabled by default for newly created scorecards and can be manually enabled for existing scorecards.

If a customer manager wishes to print scorecards showing a specific set of tees for all scorecards, they can do so by unchecking the box and selecting the specific tees to print on all scorecards.

Additional "ABCD" Pairing Options

This new feature fulfills two requests we have received from customers in recent weeks:

  • The ability to pair by the "ABCD" method for fivesomes and sixsomes

  • The option to pair by a "Low-High ABCD" (Low A, High B, Low C, and High D)

Customers can now pair using "ABCD" for fivesomes (ABCDE) and sixsomes (ABCDEF). In addition we've added a few options for selecting how players are chosen for "ABCD" pairings. In the example below, the Low-to-High option has been selected. By choosing this option, the first foursome would be (Low A, High B, Low C, High D). The second foursome would be (Second Lowest A, Second Highest B, Second Lowest C, and Second Highest D). This ordering would repeated throughout the field. This option can also be applied to AB as well as ABCDE and ABCDEF pairings.

You can read more about this feature in our knowledge base here.

Customizable Coloring of Scores on the Leaderboard

Prior to this product update, all scores were displayed in a single color on the leaderboard. In this release we've introduced the ability to customize the coloring of scores on the leaderboard. When this option is enabled, under par scores are shown in red, even par scores are shown in green, and over par scores are shown in black. These colors can be changed if desired. Color settings will apply to scores on TV display leaderboards, event websites, and the mobile app. In the example below, the tournament was played over two golf courses where round 1 has a par of 71 and round 2 has a par of 70.

Customizable Color Settings

You can read more about this feature in our knowledge base here.

Match Play Status

We now use the following approach to show the status of a match:

  • Until a match is decided, we'll show the number of holes completed. In the example below, Doig is "1 up" on Walsh after #3 while Boudreau and Bernakevitch are "All Square" after #18.

  • When a match is decided before the last hole (for example, before #18 in an 18-hole match), we'll show the final match status and we'll set the "Thru" hole to "F". In the example below, Greenwood has defeated North "10 & 8".

  • When a match is decided in extra holes, we'll show the match status as the hole where the match was decided and we'll set the "Thru" hole to "F". In the example below, Clapp has defeated Thivierge in "20 Holes".

Break Tie with Second Best Ball in Match Play

In this release, we've added a popular match play format used in many member-guest events. The format is best ball match play, but instead of awarding half points or a halved hole for a tied best ball, the second ball is used as a tie breaker. Should the second ball prove to break the tie, then all points for the hole are awarded to the team with the low second ball. If the second ball is also tied, then the hole and points would be halved in the traditional sense.

In the example below, both teams score a net 3 with their best ball on hole 3 while the second ball breaks the tie. This can also be seen on holes 7, 11, 17, and 18.

You can read more about this feature in our knowledge base here.

Option to Automatically Set Next Round to "In Progress"

Prior to this product update, when using "In Progress" scoring for a multi-round event, a customer manager was required to manually navigate to the next round and set the round to "In Progress" after the current round was set to "Completed". Setting the next round to "In Progress" the day before is useful in order to show tee times on the leaderboard and TV display.

With this release we've provided the option to automate this step. When the current round is marked as "Completed", we prompt the customer with a pop up to move the next round to "In Progress" (as shown in the screenshot below).

There are some cases where this is undesirable. We will not display the prompt when cut lines are in use, when rounds are setup as part of a league, or in the absence of pairings in the next round.

You can read more about this feature in our knowledge base here.

Configuration Page for Spreadsheet Composer

Similar to our Report Composer, we now have a Configuration Page for our Spreadsheet Composer. Many of our customers are building spreadsheets that they would like to reuse in many events. Without a way to match the fields selected in the report with data from an existing league or event, these reports could not be reused. With the Configuration Page (shown below) customers can select which data within an event or league matches the fields within their spreadsheet and effectively reuse spreadsheets across all events and leagues.

You can read more about this feature in our knowledge base here.

Other Important Enhancements

  • Ability to remove net column, handicap line, and slope/rating from scorecards

  • Upgraded our text editors throughout the system to improve usability, provide an enriched color palette, and make them compatible with mobile devices

  • Events & Leagues can now be assigned to categories when they are created

  • Ability to view Handicap Index on "Edit Pairings" page

  • Display registration opening date/time and closing date/time on Open Tee Times and Calendar widget

  • Default Round Robin setup to Foursomes (A&A vs B&B) to match the most common case

  • Ability to edit collage pages on the iPad

  • Better alignment of single-answer custom fields on the registration forms. If all possible
answers are short, they are presented on 3 columns. Otherwise the answers are presented
    on separate lines

  • Several other improvements in areas including tournaments, leaderboards, event registration, text clarifications etc

May 9, 2017

This morning we released a product update with Open Tee Time enhancements, College Golf team summaries on TV Displays, a new Stableford format, Report Composer enhancements, improvements to Open Registration, and a new Station Scoring mode of the Mobile App. The release also includes several usability enhancements as we continue to invest in ongoing improvements to the user experience.

-------------------

Open Tee Times

The Open Tee Times feature allows a golf facility to create a tee sheet and open it for golfers to register themselves and their playing partners. Issues can arise when tee sheets are opened and many golfers try to register at once. One golfer may choose a tee time for their foursome but have it taken by another golfer registering for the same foursome who happens to click "Done" a little quicker. To resolve this issue, tee times will now be held for a short period of time (signified by an hourglass timer) to give the golfer a chance to review and save the tee time (as shown below). If the timer runs out before the golfer saves, the tee time will be released.

You can read more about this feature in our knowledge base here.

College Golf Team Summaries on TV Displays

College Golf is a team format that counts the best total scores from golfers on each team. In our last release, we introduced the ability to choose how many gross and net scores to count from each team. In this release we've introduced a new TV Display format (as shown below) that shows the best gross and net scores that were used in calculating the team's score as well as all other player's scores on that team.

You can read more about this feature in our knowledge base here.

Fractional Handicaps for Stableford

We've introduced an optional Stableford scoring format that incorporates fractional handicaps. For instance, let's say a golfer's course handicap rounded to the nearest tenth is 23.3. The 23 shots would be applied as normal (two shots on handicap holes 1-5 and one shot on the remaining 13 holes) while the additional 0.3 strokes would be awarded as points to the overall Stableford score. See below for an example of the leaderboard for this case.

You can read more about this feature in our knowledge base here.

Report Composer

We've spent several release cycles creating and refining our Report Composer. While we've kept customers informed of our progress in our release notes, the Report Composer has not been accessible outside of a pilot group. With this release we are now making the Report Composer available to all customers. This is a robust feature allowing for the creation of a wide range of reports.

In this release, we've introduced sorting and filtering capabilities. Sorting controls the order in which information is shown on a report. Filtering controls what information is included or excluded in a report.

For example, it's now possible (by using all of the features developed in the Report Composer to this point) to create a customized and reusable Gift Certificate report (as shown below) that includes only those players who have won prizes (sorted by highest to lowest prize).

You can read more about the Report Composer, Filtering, and Sorting in our knowledge base.

Open Registration Improvements

Open Registration is a popular tool to create customized online registration forms that allow golfers to sign up for tournaments. This is a major point of interaction between golf facilities and golfers. We've made a number of small usability improvements, two of which we've outlined below.

In the past, there has sometimes been confusion about where a registrant should click to add other golfers to their registration. To improve this, we've added buttons (as shown below) with clear text to either "Add Another Member to My Team" or "Add Another Golfer to My Team".

We've received feedback about members changing their names on open registration forms. They've done this for a variety of reasons but the end result is confusion in the pro shop as you now have member names and GHIN numbers on one registration form that no longer match. We've addressed this by making First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, and GHIN read-only fields and showing these fields in gray (as shown below). In a future release we will enhance this further by providing a mechanism for the golfer to easily notify the pro shop of requested name changes (e.g. changing William to Bill).

You can read more about this feature in our knowledge base here.

Station Scoring Mode in Mobile App

Using the Mobile App for live scoring is a popular feature. As hole-by-hole (HBH) scores are entered via the Mobile App, the live leaderboard (viewed through the Mobile App, TV Displays, and the Event Website) is automatically updated.

In club events, golf trips, or league play, players enter their own scores in the mobile app as they complete each hole. In formal competitions conducted by golf associations, tournament officials or volunteers are typically stationed every few holes to collect scores from groups as they move through each station.

To support the latter case, we’ve introduced Station Scoring mode in the Mobile App (iOS and Android) to support stroke play events. Station Scoring support for match play will be available in an upcoming release.

Using the Manager Site, the tournament manager defines the stations for each round/course within an event. In the example shown below, stations have been established after #6, #12, and #18.

Using the Mobile App, the tournament official at each station views their set of holes and cycles through the groups and players as needed to enter HBH scores.

If adjustments or corrections are later needed, tournament managers can override the HBH scores using the Enter Scores page in the Manager Site.

While Scoring Station mode was primarily motivated for use in formal competitions conducted by golf associations, it can also be useful at the club level for:

  • Outings

  • Club events where cell phone usage on the course is prohibited

  • Clubs wishing to promote live scoring to members before advancing to the stage where players enter their own HBH scores

Instead of each group recording their own scores on the mobile app, scoring stations can be established with club staff or volunteers collecting and entering the HBH scores as groups pass through. Adding a TV Display to each station further enhances the golfer experience by allowing players to see where they stand in the competition. After the round, the time and effort required to finish scoring is substantially reduced and final results are quickly available.

We've posted a new release with the ability to control the order of alternates below the cut line, expanded tournament results in the Spreadsheet Composer, the ability to show gross scores on net leaderboards, and a new College Golf format. The release also includes several usability improvements as we continue to invest in ongoing improvements to the user experience.

-------------------

Controlling the Order of Alternates Below Cut Line

In a qualifying event, players falling just below the cut line may need to be designated as first alternate, second alternate, and so on (in case players who have made the cut are unable to play in the next stage of the tournament). In these cases, it's now possible to control the order of the alternates using the Details column. As shown in the animated screenshot below, the user can enter "1st alternate", "2nd alternate", and so on. These players will then be ordered on the leaderboard accordingly. You may also enter "First alternate", "Second alternate", and so on.

Expanded Tournament Results in Spreadsheet Composer

The Spreadsheet Composer gives you the ability to construct and download spreadsheets to be used for a variety of purposes in various formats (including CSV, XLS, and XLSX). In this release, we've expanded the set of exportable data to include:

  • Scores for each round

  • Cumulative scores for multi-round tournaments

  • Leaderboard position (rank) for each player or team in a tournament

  • Purse and points awarded to each player or team in a tournament

Show Gross Score on Net Leaderboards

In net competitions, customers sometimes wish to display the gross scores alongside the net scores on the leaderboard. You now have the option to show or hide gross scores for net competitions. When enabled, a net leaderboard will appear as shown below.

Net and Gross Combinations For College Golf

We've long supported College Golf, a team-based game that counts a certain number of scores from each team (gross scores and net scores). In this release we've added the option of counting both gross and net scores within one tournament. As part of that feature we also allow you to choose the order in which those scores should be counted (best gross and then best net, best net and then best gross, or the optimal score counting best gross and net at once.) College Golf is available for both stroke play and Stableford scoring formats.

The screenshots below illustrate a College Golf format tournament where the team score takes the 3 best gross scores and the 2 best net scores.

Other Important Enhancements

  • Optional ability to prevent player(s) or team(s) from reserving two practice round tee times at the same course on the same day

  • Various improvements to the Android app along with support for 36/54 hole matches

  • Invoices emailed to players now show up as coming from the manager sending them rather than the manager who set up the original invoice

  • For customers using single sign on (SSO), we now allow you to choose any custom field to use for validation and show all duplicate values that need to be resolved before using the custom field

  • In open registration emails we now display the date of both the first and last round of the event or league

February 28, 2017

We posted a release with enhancements to cut line projections, the page and report composers, TV displays and leaderboards, activity logs, and UK handicap integrations. We've added several other new features and enhancements to our user interface. The release also includes several usability improvements as we continue to invest in ongoing improvements to the user experience.

-------------------

Cut Line Projections

In this release we've made enhancements to our existing cut line capabilities allowing customers to now set up projected cut lines for tournaments while in progress. As shown below there are two parts to projecting a cut:

  • First, the user selects when the projected cut line will be visible. This can be done automatically after a configurable percentage of scores are completed for all holes, or after the completion of play. Alternatively, the user can manually show or hide the cut line during the round.

  • Second, the user decides how unfinished rounds will be projected to completion. This can be done using hole averages from the current round and applying these to all remaining unplayed holes, or by simply assuming that each player will finish their round with their current score relative to par.

Ability to Filter by Player Attributes in the Page Composer

We've made enhancements to the page composer in this release that will allow managers to filter printed material based on player attributes (including both standard and custom fields). Although the primary goal of this enhancement was to allow a customer to print only those cart signs where at least one player of the two was riding, it will be useful for many other page composer documents. For example this feature could be used to separate and print materials by course for multi-course rounds. Standard cart signs can also be filtered in this fashion.

Report Composer Enhancements

We continue to invest significant development resources in our report composer. In this release we've enhanced this tool based on customer feedback. We're excited to announce that we've added the ability to create multi-level (hierarchical) reports. For example, this enhancement allows users to produce reports by flight, teams within a flight, and players within a flight.

With this in mind we've added several new reports to the library. The following reports are now available: Multi-Round Tee Sheets, Teams by Flight, Teams with City and State, Individual Flights and Results, Course Listings, Hole by Hole Course Listings, Raguzzi Charts with Course Data. Please find an example below of our Teams by Flight Report.

Amateur and Professional Designations

We've added the option to place amateur and professional designations on the leaderboard next to a player's name. This is especially useful for pro-am and open events where the majority of the field would be one designation and you'd want to indicate the few that were not in this group. In the screenshot below we use "(a)" and "(p)" as the designations which are defaults that can be customized. These designations are visible on printed documents, TV displays, and leaderboards.

Activity Log Enhancements

We introduced the activity log several months ago. It was our goal when we first introduced this feature to allow a user to identify any major changes that were made to their event. This tool enables users to track who, what, where, and when an action was taken. As part of this release we're now able to track:

  • When rounds have been added or removed from an event

  • When handicaps have been updated in any way (for example retrieving from a handicap provider, uploading from a spreadsheet, etc)

UK Handicapping Via HandicapMaster

For all of our customers in the UK we are pleased to announce the ability to retrieve handicaps and post scores to HandicapMaster. When posting scores, we respect Clause 19 (which states that a player's max score on any given hole can be no more than net double bogey) and we only post scores for handicap eligible tournaments.

You can read more about posting scores to HandicapMaster here.

Other Important Enhancements

  • Automatically total "In" and "Out" yardages when editing scorecards

  • Ability to set maximum course handicap for Callaway, Peoria, and System 36

  • Spreadsheets can now be uploaded in XLS, XLSX, and CSV formats

As always, you can find more details in our knowledge base. We continue to focus releases on saving time in setting up events, providing tools for greater flexibility in those events, and enhancing many of the existing tools that are used as part of everyday life at a golf facility. As always, we welcome and appreciate your feedback which drives the continuous improvement of our product.
