What are Reactions?
Reactions is an Apple feature on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. When you make certain hand gestures on camera, like a thumbs-up or a heart with your hands, animated emojis and effects appear on your video.
Reactions are on by default.
Reactions are not an Updox Video Chat feature. They come from Apple's device software, so they can show up in any video call, including Video Chat.
Which devices have Reactions?
iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later
Mac running macOS Sonoma or later
If I turn off Reactions, does it turn them off for the patient too?
No. Turning off Reactions only affects the device you turn them off on.
Example: If a provider turns off Reactions on their Mac, emojis won't appear when the provider makes gestures. If the patient hasn't turned off Reactions on their iPhone, emojis can still appear when the patient makes gestures.
To stop Reactions for everyone, each person needs to turn them off on their own device.
Tip: If Reactions keep interrupting visits, share this article with your patients.
