Publishing Ads to Meta From Cuttable

Learn how to publish ads directly from Cuttable to your Meta account.

Written by Libby

Summary
Publish ads directly from Cuttable to your Meta Ads account by selecting ads, choosing or creating a campaign and ad set, and confirming the ad details before publishing.

Paid ads only: publishing an ad as organic content

Publishing an ad from Cuttable to Meta always creates a paid ad, run through a Meta ad campaign and ad set. Cuttable does not publish organic content, so an ad cannot be posted directly to a brand's own Instagram Stories feed, Instagram grid, or Facebook Page timeline outside of a paid campaign.

When you choose Stories or Reels as part of an ad's placements during publishing, you are choosing where that paid ad can appear inside a Meta ad campaign, not posting organic content to an Instagram Stories feed. Placements such as Feed, Stories, and Reels only apply to ads run through a campaign and ad set.

To share a Cuttable ad as an organic post, for example an organic Instagram Story, download the ad from Cuttable, then upload it directly through Meta Business Suite or the Instagram app. Cuttable does not have a direct publish path for organic content.

How to publish ads to Meta

  1. Go to Your Ads in Cuttable.

  2. Select the ad group that contains the ads you want to publish.

  3. Tick the checkbox on the ads you want to publish.

  4. Click the green Publish to Meta box.

This opens the publishing screen where you choose the destination campaign and configure the ad details.

Create a campaign and ad set or choose an existing one

  • If using an existing campaign and ad set:

    1. Select the Campaign from the dropdown.

    2. Select the Ad Set from the dropdown.

  • If creating a new campaign and ad set:

    1. Select Create New for Campaign Type.

    2. Choose an objective:

      • Sales

      • Awareness

      • Leads

    3. Set a budget.

    4. Create a new ad set.

Choose ad format

Cuttable supports publishing different ad formats. You can choose to publish:

  • Static ads

  • Video ads

  • Static and video ads

This allows you to send static assets, video assets, or both to your Meta campaign.

Review and edit ad details

You will see a table showing the ads you selected with editable fields. Each field corresponds to the components Meta uses for placements such as feeds, stories, or reels. Cuttable automatically fills these fields using the ad content, but you can edit them before publishing.

Editable fields include:

  • Primary Text

  • Headline

  • Description

  • Call-to-Action (CTA)

  • CTA URL

When a product is linked to the ad, the CTA URL field prefills automatically with that product's page. You can still edit the CTA URL before publishing.

A preview is also shown so you can review how the ad will appear.

⭐ Important: If none of the assets on an ad meet Meta's requirements for the destination placements, Cuttable shows a specific, actionable error message describing what's missing, instead of a generic failure message.

Choose publish status

Before publishing, you can decide how the ads should be created in Meta:

  • Publish live: the ads go live immediately according to the campaign settings.

  • Publish paused: the ads are created but remain paused.

If you publish paused, you must manually activate the ads in Meta Ads Manager.

Leads campaigns and Meta Instant Forms

If you create a new Leads campaign or ad set in Cuttable, the ad publishes to Meta with the Leads objective, but Cuttable does not create or attach a Meta Instant Form. Instant Forms can only be created and attached inside Meta Ads Manager, not through Cuttable's publishing flow.

To publish a Leads ad that uses an Instant Form, use an existing campaign and ad set that already has the Instant Form configured in Meta Ads Manager, rather than creating a new one:

  1. In Meta Ads Manager, confirm the ad set you want to use already has the Instant Form attached.

  2. In Cuttable, when publishing, select that existing campaign from the Campaign dropdown and that ad set from the Ad Set dropdown, as described in Create a campaign and ad set or choose an existing one above, instead of Create New.

  3. Publish your ad. It inherits the Instant Form and other ad set settings from Meta.

⭐ Important: creating a new Leads campaign or ad set directly in Cuttable does not support attaching a Meta Instant Form. Use an existing ad set that already has the Instant Form configured in Meta Ads Manager.

Anatomy of a Facebook ad

While exact placement may differ (Feed, Stories, Reels, etc.) within your paid ad campaign, here's how each column maps to the structure of your ad:

  • Primary Text → The main text that appears above your ad.

  • Headline → The bold title that appears under your media.

  • Description → Additional supporting text (may not always display depending on placement).

  • Media → The video or image selected for your ad.

  • CTA (Call to Action) → The button (e.g. Learn More, Shop Now).

  • CTA URL → The landing page your ad drives traffic to.

  • CTA Display URL (optional) → A shortened or cleaner version of your link, if you want to show it differently. If you fill in this field, it must be a valid URL, for example https://yourbrand.com/shop, not plain text. Leave it blank if you don't need a different display URL.

Why an existing campaign isn't appearing in the dropdown

If a campaign you expect to see isn't showing up when you try to publish, it's usually one of these:

  • The campaign delivery status is set to draft. Meta's API can't see draft campaigns. Publish the campaign in Meta Ads Manager and it will appear in Cuttable.

  • The campaign is turned off. Cuttable only lists campaigns that are switched on. Turn the campaign on in Ads Manager and it will appear straight away.

A future start date on the ad set is fine. The campaign will still appear in Cuttable as long as it's published and turned on.

The campaign dropdown pulls up to 200 of your Meta campaigns, increased from a limit of about 25 campaigns previously. If your account has more than 200 published, active campaigns and the one you need still isn't listed, it's most likely one of the two causes above rather than the campaign count.

An unaccepted Special Ad Category certification can silently block publishing

Before certain ads can be published through Cuttable, Meta requires the connected ad account's Business Owner or an admin with full access to accept Meta's Discriminatory Practices Certification (also shown in Meta as a non-discrimination policy agreement). This certification is separate from connecting your Meta account, and it is not the same step as choosing a Special Ad Category when creating a campaign. If the certification has not been accepted, publishing from Cuttable can fail or appear to do nothing, with no error message in Cuttable pointing to the cause.

Meta requires advertisers to declare a Special Ad Category for ads related to credit, employment, housing, or social issues, elections, or politics, and Meta prompts for the Discriminatory Practices Certification most often in connection with these categories. Cuttable publishes ads to Meta through a system user, and Meta can require this certification for any ad account publishing through a system user or third-party tool such as Cuttable, including for ads outside these categories.

⭐ Important: If ads are not publishing from Cuttable and no error message explains why, check whether the account's Business Owner has accepted this certification in Meta before troubleshooting further.

To review and accept the certification in Meta Business Manager:

  1. Sign in to Meta Business Manager as the account's Business Owner or an admin with full access. Only this role can complete the certification.

  2. Go to Business Settings.

  3. Under Users, select System Users.

  4. If the certification has not been accepted, Meta shows a prompt to review and certify compliance with its Discriminatory Practices policy. Read the policy and accept it.

Meta also allows completing this certification directly, outside Business Manager, by signing in and reviewing the policy at facebook.com/certification/nondiscrimination.

Publishing from Cuttable works as expected once the certification is accepted. Contact support if publishing is still blocked after the Business Owner has confirmed the certification is accepted.

⭐ Important: This same fix also applies if publishing fails because Meta's lead generation Terms of Service haven't been accepted, or if the certification step above doesn't resolve it: first accept the relevant terms via Meta's own prompt (in Meta Business Suite or wherever Meta surfaces it), then, only if publishing still fails after that, go to Business Settings → Users → Apps in Meta Business Suite, remove Cuttable, and reconnect Meta from inside Cuttable: go to Settings, open the Connectors tab, and select Reconnect on the Meta card.

Notes

  • When choosing an existing campaign and ad set, settings like budget, targeting, and optimisation goals are inherited from the ad set you selected.

  • Campaigns created within Cuttable are Advantage+ campaigns, so you only need to select an objective and budget.

  • To publish to an existing campaign and ad set, the campaign must be published (not in draft) and turned on. See Why an existing campaign isn't appearing in the dropdown above.

  • Any changes made here will apply only to the ads you're publishing from Cuttable, not your entire campaign.

Find where an ad was published

After publishing, you can see where an ad went and open it directly in Meta from your Publishing History.

  1. Go to the Ad Insights page.

  2. Select Published Meta Ads to open your Publishing History.

  3. Select the ad you want to review. A drawer opens on the right-hand side.

  4. In the drawer, select View Ad in Meta to be taken straight to the ad in Meta.
