As part of our promise to support you every step of the way, the jmc trainers have launched a dedicated New User Resource Hub, giving you a foundation of knowledge to master our tools — and your role. In this article, we share seven essential jmc tips from the Hub to accelerate your success with jmc.

While both tools make for easy collection and storing of vital student info, New Family Enrollment and Online Registration serve two different purposes. Use New Family Enrollment to collect basic contact and demographic details for prospective students. Once enrolled, lean on Online Registration to gather more detailed info for new and returning students like permissions and medical emergency plans.

Before you select from predefined problem behaviors or create your own, check your state’s Department of Education website for a list of key behaviors that your school is required to track for state reporting and district funding purposes. Starting with the state can save you time while keeping your discipline records and reporting aligned. Want to learn more about the importance of state reporting? Watch our explainer video.

When questions arise about an interaction or conversation, be it with a student or parent/guardian, it helps to have a clear record so that you can provide the appropriate answer — that’s where the Communication module comes in handy. Use the tool to document key event details like when it occurred, the action taken, and more via jmc Office or jmc Teacher, depending on your role.

When setting up your Message Center via jmc Office, take a moment to customize your phone dialer settings for each building in your district so that families can quickly recognize who is calling. This small step will make your communications clearer and most importantly, save your district-family alerts, reminders, and other key announcements from accidentally getting canned as spam.

When choosing a grading format, start with end-of-term academic reporting in mind. Ask yourself what info best reflects student proficiency? From there, use our grading solution checklist to nail-down your selection. Our team will then help set up the grading tools that your teachers need to track and report on student performance, based on your chosen grading solution.

You can streamline your chargeable fees by organizing them into fee accounts that match your school’s deposit accounts via the Tuition and Fees module. Keeping those aligned will make it much easier to reconcile payments with your bank records and ensure that your bookkeeping is accurate across your entire district.

The Activities module isn’t just for extracurriculars — it’s perfect for managing any group of students associated with an adult. For example, you could create an activity group for “recess” students and grant your recess monitor access through the Coach/Advisor app to make quick work of roster management and communication.

As you make your way through our tools, you’re sure to have questions — the jmc Help widget has the answers and resources you need to keep moving. Access it by simply clicking the blue dot at the bottom right-hand corner of jmc Office.
