Create DHL return labels directly from yayloh, with DHL eCommerce, DHL Express or DHL Freight. DHL Express also supports paperless customs for cross-border returns.
Using DHL through Webshipper or nShift instead? See Webshipper or nShift. For DHL Express cross-border returns, we recommend this direct integration, since it fully supports paperless customs.
Before you start
A DHL account for the division you use, with the countries you want to offer returns from.
Your warehouse set up under Settings > Stores & warehouses. You'll choose it when you create the route.
Admin access to yayloh.
Step 1: Get your credentials
Each DHL division needs different credentials. If you're not sure where to find them, ask your DHL account manager.
DHL division | Credentials |
DHL eCommerce | Client ID, client secret, and customer identification number (EKP number) |
DHL Express | Export account number and import account number |
DHL Freight | Freight agreement number (or customer account number) |
Step 2: Add DHL as a carrier
Go to Settings > Carriers & Routes and open the Carriers tab.
Click Add carrier and enter a name, for example "DHL Express".
Choose the carrier company for your division: DHL_ECOMMERCE, DHL_EXPRESS or DHL_FREIGHT.
Under Credentials, enter the credentials from Step 1.
Use more than one DHL division? Add a carrier for each.
Step 3: Create a route
In the Routes tab, click Add route and choose your DHL carrier under Use.
Under Allow returns from, choose the countries enabled in your DHL contract. You can also choose a Region, such as EU, and remove countries under Exclude countries.
Choose your Default warehouse.
Open Specifications and fill in the fields for your division below.

DHL Freight labels are PDF only.
Paperless customs (DHL Express only)
With paperless customs (Paperless Trade, PLT), customs invoices are sent to DHL electronically, so customers don't need to print them.
Ask your DHL account manager to activate Paperless Trade on your DHL Express account.
In your DHL Express route, turn on PAPERLESS.
Test it with a return request that has an item with an HS code and a value of at least 1.
Returns from Great Britain and Northern Ireland: both use country code GB, but Northern Ireland follows EU customs rules. Set a DHL Express route without paperless as the fallback for your paperless GB route.
Step 4: Save and test
Click Apply changes, then create a test label on the Labels page.
Good to know
Labels only work for countries enabled in your DHL contract. To add a country, contact DHL first.
