How return labels work

How return labels are created and sent to customers, with links to carrier setup.

Written by Vineeta Pendse

yayloh creates a return label for each return, using the carrier and route you've set up, and sends it to the customer by email.

Setting up carriers and routes? See Carriers & Routes: how it works. It explains how yayloh picks a carrier, and links to the setup guide for each carrier.

How the customer gets the label

  • yayloh emails (default): the label is sent in yayloh's return email. See Settings: E-mail templates.

  • Your own email tool: you can send the label through Klaviyo or Rule instead.

Good to know

  • Return checkout lets customers choose between several carriers for the same country. It's an add-on, so contact us to set it up.

  • Cross-border returns: make sure your products have HS codes and country of origin in your e-commerce platform. Using the same carrier for delivery and returns makes customs and VAT smoother.

  • Labels expire, usually after 28 days depending on the carrier. If a label expires, the customer may need a new one.

  • Label not created? See Shipping label error troubleshooting.
