Defining Service Actions

Explains how to configure the list of actions that can be performed on your inventory items. Instructions for adding your company’s provided service actions (set up under Attributes in the Business lines settings).

Updated today

To get the most out of the Container Inventory functionality, we’ll want to configure the list of actions that can be performed on your inventory items. These actions define the specific types of work your business performs, such as Delivery, Collection, or Repair. These are assigned to work orders and allow drivers to accurately report the services they complete. This is critical for maintaining an accurate history for each container and ensuring correct billing.

This feature is currently in an open beta. If you run into any issues or have feedback, reach out to support with the blue chat bubble in your Hauler Hero account or support@haulerhero.com.

You will need administrator access to the Business Settings to complete this process.

How to Add a New Service Action

This is a crucial step to ensure you show the appropriate Action options as you work to create & configure your specific business lines.

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu by clicking the ⚙️ gear icon in the top right corner.

  2. Under the Business Lines section, click on Attributes.

  3. Select the Actions tab to view the list of currently available default service actions.

  4. If needed, click the + Add Action button. It will turn into a dropdown menu labeled Select Actions, revealing a list of predefined actions.

  5. Choose whichever additional actions you’d like to add as options, such as Repair or Bin Cleaning. The action will now appear in your list. Repeat this step for all additional actions you need to add.

  6. Click the Save button in the bottom right corner to apply the changes.

  7. These configured actions will be available when creating services and work orders throughout the application.

Troubleshooting

  • If a specific service action you require is not available in the dropdown list here in Attributes, it may be a custom action that needs to be enabled. Please contact support for assistance with actions not present in the predefined list.

  • ❓Not seeing the correct Actions showing up in your Create & Configure list? The steps above are how to fix that. You must ensure you have the service action set up at the Attributes level in the Business lines setting.

Summary

Adding service actions allows you to customize the software to match your company’s operational workflow. By defining the types of services you offer, you ensure that work orders are categorized correctly, enabling accurate scheduling, routing, and reporting. This configuration is a foundational step in tailoring the system to your specific business needs.
