Understanding your bill: mailbox plans vs. domain charges (monthly vs. yearly)

Why your billing page may show "monthly" while domains are charged yearly, and why the checkout total can be higher than the mailbox price alone.

If your billing page shows a different cycle than you expected — for example "monthly" when you thought domains were yearly, or a checkout total that's higher than the mailbox price you first saw — this is almost always because mailboxes and domains are billed separately. Here's how it works.

Mailbox plans and domains are billed separately

  • Your mailbox plan is billed monthly (or per quarter on legacy Quarterly packages), depending on the plan you chose.

  • Your domains are a yearly registration fee of $15 per domain, charged annually and separate from your mailbox subscription. Pre-warmed domains are the exception: a separate monthly subscription at $11.99 per domain.

  • Because these are separate items, your checkout total includes both the mailbox plan and the domain registration — which is why it can be higher than the mailbox price on its own.

  • Plans include domain slots: the right to register a domain through Maildoso or connect one you own. Domain slots are not prepaid domains.

  • Master Inbox addresses on the maildoso.email domain are free and don't use mailbox slots.

When your account combines mailboxes and domains, the billing page may label the overall subscription as "monthly" while the domain portion is still a once-a-year registration. This is a display artifact from the payment processor — it doesn't change what you pay. During the year you may also see monthly entries of $0.00 until the annual renewal date; that's normal. If a "next payment" figure doesn't add up, ask us and we'll confirm the exact upcoming charge. If you were actually charged for domains again a month after buying them, that's a billing error, not the policy — tell us and we'll correct the subscription and refund the extra charge.

When is my next charge?

  • The Next Payment card and the Next payment column on the Billing page show each subscription's renewal date and amount.

  • Your domain registration renews once a year on its own renewal date, as long as your subscription stays active.

  • It's normal to see the mailbox renewal and the domain renewal as separate dates and separate charges.

What's included in my mailbox subscription?

The mailbox subscription covers usage, bandwidth, API and MCP access and sending, plus IP rotation, self-healing mailboxes, mailbox reputation measurements and free deliverability audits. There are no additional or variable charges for these.

Switching mailboxes between SMTP and Google Workspace before a renewal

If you want to switch mailboxes between SMTP and Google Workspace so the upcoming invoice reflects the new plan type, contact us before your renewal date with your account email and which mailboxes should switch — it isn't self-serve, since it affects both provisioning and pricing (and switching to Google Workspace needs unused Google Workspace allotment on your plan).

The dashboard shows "0/30" after I paid

That means no mailboxes have been created yet. Add a domain, then create mailboxes on it — the counter updates as you go. See Getting started: a walkthrough of the Maildoso dashboard.
