This is the single reference for how Google Workspace mailboxes behave in Maildoso. Google Workspace mailboxes are provisioned through a third-party Google Workspace provider, so several things — deleting, recreating, renaming — work differently from standard SMTP mailboxes. Read this before you delete or change a Google Workspace mailbox.
Is Google Workspace still available?
Google Workspace mailboxes are still supported on plans that already include Google Workspace allotment — you can keep creating, using and recreating mailboxes within that allotment. New or additional Google Workspace allotment is not currently available to purchase (in the app or on the website), so all new mailbox purchases are SMTP mailboxes. If you need Google Workspace mailboxes beyond what your plan includes, contact us in chat with the number you need and we'll confirm your options and timing.
Need more capacity now? Add SMTP mailboxes — see Adding more mailboxes to your plan (if the app and the website show different prices, the website is current — see Why is the price in the app different from the price on our website?). For a different mix of mailboxes and domains, see Changing or switching your plan.
This article is the current status for Google Workspace availability — if you read something different elsewhere in the Help Center, this article wins.
Why the Google option might show 0 available or greyed out
If Google shows greyed out or 0 available on the mailbox-creation screen, it's usually one of these — not a bug:
Your plan has no unused Google Workspace slots, and new allotment isn't currently purchasable.
Your current plan is SMTP-only and never included Google Workspace quota.
Your slots are still taken by mailboxes you deleted that are waiting for their removal date — see Deleting a Google Workspace mailbox below.
You just checked out and the quota hasn't applied yet — wait a few minutes and refresh.
The specific domain isn't Google-eligible — see Why are some of my domains not eligible for Google Workspace?
The domain already has the maximum of 5 Google Workspace mailboxes, or isn't fully Active yet — see Setting up domains and mailboxes.
If you signed up or added an add-on expecting Google Workspace mailboxes and that allotment isn't purchasable, contact support — we'll confirm what your plan includes and sort out billing if you were charged for something you can't use.
"Pending" and "Failed" on a Google Workspace mailbox
Google Workspace mailboxes usually take a few hours to provision. Pending means the request was submitted and is still being created. If a mailbox stays Pending for more than 24–48 hours, or shows Failed, don't delete and recreate it — contact us with the mailbox address. Common causes:
a missing first/last name;
the same address was deleted and is still waiting for its removal date (see below);
the domain's Admin mailbox was deleted or cancelled — then every new Google Workspace mailbox on that domain fails (see The "Admin" mailbox).
More: Mailboxes show Failed, Pending, or "already exists". For what every status and badge on the Email accounts page means, see My mailbox shows "Inactive" — what does that mean?
Deleting a Google Workspace mailbox — how it really works
A Google Workspace mailbox can't be deleted instantly. Whether you click Delete or Cancel, the mailbox is scheduled for cancellation, not removed:
Its status changes to Deletion scheduled · <date>. The date is the end of the current billing period of your Google Workspace line.
Until that date the mailbox is still active — it sends, receives, warms up and stays connected to your sequencer, and it still takes up its slot.
On that date it is removed for good. Neither you nor our support team can remove it earlier.
Until the removal date, the same address can't be created again. If you try, the new mailbox will show Failed — that's expected, not an error to retry. Wait for the date, or use a different address.
Once removed, the slot returns to your Google Workspace allotment and you can create a new mailbox in it (on any Google-eligible domain). The new mailbox starts with fresh warmup — plan on 10–14 days.
Once removed, a mailbox can't be restored with its data. If you change your mind before the date, contact us and we'll check whether the cancellation can be stopped.
This applies to regular mailboxes only. Deleting or cancelling the domain's Admin mailbox cancels the whole Workspace of the domain — see The "Admin" mailbox.
Plan replacements ahead of your Google billing date. Deleting a Google Workspace mailbox does not free a slot for a new address right away, so it is not a quick way to "make room" for new mailboxes.
Billing dates. Google Workspace mailboxes run on their own billing line, which can have a different cycle date from your main plan. The Google line is charged at the start of its cycle and scheduled mailboxes are removed at the end of it — e.g. a line that runs from the 20th to the 20th is invoiced on the 20th, and mailboxes deleted during that cycle show "Deletion scheduled" for the following 20th. Scheduling a deletion doesn't lower the number of Google Workspace slots on your next invoice by itself: if you don't want to be charged for those slots at the next renewal, contact us before the renewal date with the number of Google Workspace mailboxes you're keeping and we'll reduce the Google line.

Can I change (rename) a Google Workspace mailbox address?
No. The address of a Google Workspace mailbox (the part before the @) can't be changed — not in the dashboard and not by our support team. The only way to get a different address is:
Delete the mailbox you no longer want — it stays active until its removal date (see above). Never use the Admin mailbox for this.
After the removal date, create the new address in the freed slot — or right away, if you already have an unused Google Workspace slot.
Warm the new mailbox up for 10–14 days before real outreach.
The display name (first/last name) is different — you can change it yourself at any time; see Change names of mailboxes. Moving mailboxes to a different domain works the same way (new mailboxes, fresh warmup) — see Can I move my mailboxes to another domain?
The "Admin" mailbox — don't delete or cancel it
On the Email accounts page, one Google Workspace mailbox per domain carries a small Admin badge. It's the administrator (primary) user of that domain's Google Workspace. It sends, warms up and is billed like any other mailbox.
Deleting or cancelling the Admin mailbox deletes the domain's entire Google Workspace, and the domain can't be used for Google Workspace again for about 11 months. What that means:
Every other Google Workspace mailbox on that domain is cancelled with it — even if some of them still look Active for a while.
You can't create new Google Workspace mailboxes on that domain any more — every attempt ends in Failed, and recreating them won't help. Deleting the remaining mailboxes doesn't unlock the domain either.
Our Google Workspace provider requires a domain to stay unused in Google Workspace for about 11 months before it can be added again.
Can it be undone? It depends on how far the cancellation has gone:
Admin mailbox still shows "Deletion scheduled" — the cancellation can usually be stopped, and the domain's Workspace is kept with all its mailboxes. Contact support right away: this is only possible before the removal date.
Admin mailbox already removed — the Workspace and its mailboxes can't be recovered. To keep using Google Workspace, use your free Google Workspace slots on other domains. In rare cases the domain can be released earlier, but only through a manual process with the provider that isn't guaranteed and has no fixed timeline — and it means rebuilding everything from scratch: all mailboxes on the domain are recreated as new mailboxes, with no data and a fresh warmup. Ask support if you want us to check this for a specific domain.
So: don't delete or cancel the Admin mailbox if you want to keep any Google Workspace mailbox on that domain, and don't use it to free a slot or "swap" it for a new address. Delete it only if you're giving up Google Workspace on that domain entirely. If it has already happened, contact support right away — don't recreate anything.
Switching between Google Workspace and SMTP
A domain serves either Google Workspace or SMTP, not both. Switching to Google Workspace requires unused Google Workspace allotment on your plan — see Can I switch a mailbox/domain between Google Workspace and SMTP?

Still stuck?
Contact support with the mailbox address, the domain, and roughly when you created or deleted it. Please don't delete, recreate or rename Google Workspace mailboxes to work around a problem — tell us first, so nothing ends up in a state that's hard to recover.
