Change account billing address

How to update a customer's billing address, which is the address used on invoices. There are several ways to update the billing address, depending on your workflow.

Method 1: From the Account Tab

This is the most direct way to edit the main billing address associated with a customer's account.

  1. From the customer's profile, ensure you are on the Account tab.

  2. Click the three-dot more menu in the top-right corner of the page.

  3. Select Edit from the dropdown menu.

  1. In the Edit account details window, locate the Billing address section.

  2. Update the address fields as needed.

  3. Click Save to apply the changes.

Method 2: From the Billing Tab

You can also update the billing address directly from the Billing tab, either from the sidebar or while processing a payment.

  1. Navigate to the customer's Billing tab.

  2. On the left sidebar, find the Billing location details card and click the three-dot menu.

  3. Select Edit to open the Edit billing location window, make your changes, and click Save.

Alternatively, if you are taking a payment:

  1. Click the Take Payment button.

  2. In the New payment window, scroll down and click the edit icon next to Billing Address.

  3. Update the address in the pop-up window and click Save.

Method 3: Using a Beneficial Owner for Address Overrides

This method is useful for situations like landlord-tenant relationships, where a different party is ultimately responsible for the bill if the primary customer defaults. This allows you to keep the primary customer's billing address on file while directing invoices to a different address.

  1. Go to the customer's Account tab.

  2. On the left sidebar, find the Beneficial owner contacts section and click the plus icon.

  3. Enter the beneficial owner's name, address, and contact information.

  4. Toggle the Payment address override switch to enable it. This action will use the beneficial owner's address for all future invoices.

  5. Click Save.
