Device FAQs

General

How do I turn on and connect the device?

Devices should always be attached to track worker PPE or site assets/equipment with the antenna facing skywards, in locations that will not become obstructed.

Tended will provide suitable Klickfastℒ️ attachments.

Charging

Why isn't the battery level on the Dashboard correct?

You can view each device's battery level in the Dashboard. Devices must be assigned to a project, and then you can view the battery level in the project's devices table.

Sometimes, even when you've fully charged a device it may show a lower level of battery than expected. This is because the Dashboard is showing the battery level of the device at the time it was last connected to cellular.

If the battery level is reporting lower than expected, simply connect the device to cellular by turning it on in an unobstructed environment and waiting for a couple of minutes. The actual battery level should then be shown in the Dashboard.

Why isn't my device charging?

First, carry out these checks:

βœ… Check that the charging case is plugged into the wall socket

βœ… Check power is turned on at the wall

βœ… Check the USB port has a blue LED, showing it is connected to power

If you've checked the above and the device isn't charging, please get in touch with our support team.

    1. Place your device on charge as normal. If an update is available, the connectivity LED will fade in and out yellow.

    2. Leave it on charge until the LED is solid yellow.

    3. The update will finish installing when you next turn it on. It may take around 30 seconds to switch on afterwards.

Is my device waterproof and ATEX-certified?

ATEX

Our devices are not yet ATEX-certified. This is something on our roadmap for the future.

Waterproof rating

The waterproof rating is currently being tested for IP67. You can view information about IP ratings here. It is splash-resistant, but not waterproof. This means it will be suitable for wet weather conditions. We do not recommend submerging the device in water as this may permanently damage the internal electronics.

Dashboard FAQs

Device assignment

I'm having issues with assigning devices to the Dashboard. What do I check?

  1. Check which project it is assigned to

Devices can only be assigned to one project at a time. This is to ensure it has the correct information about the worksite(s) for a body of work.

To find out how to check if a device is assigned to a different project, check out our guide here.

To find out how to unassign a device, check out our guide here.

  2. Check the device IDs

A common issue is the 6-digit ID of the device on-site does not match the one assigned to a project.

You can find out which device IDs are assigned to a specific project by following our guide here. You'll need the physical device in front of you to check the serial number, which can be found on the back of the device. It is a 6-digit number.

If you have confirmed that the correct device ID is not attached to the project, you will need to assign the device. Find out how to assign a device here.

  3. Check that your device is not assigned to a different organisation's Dashboard

The device may be attached to another organisation's Dashboard. Find the full guide to check, here.

What's the difference between "Assigned" and "Assigning" on the device table

When you've assigned devices to the project, you'll be able to view them all on the devices table.

The "Status" column indicates if a device is "Assigned" or "Assigning":

  • Assigned: this status tells you that the device is assigned and receiving the project or site geofence information.

  • Assigning: this status shows that the device is still working on receiving the project or site geofence information, this can take a couple of minutes in some cases

What's the difference between "Asset" and "Wearable" mode?

There are two modes a Wearable device can be used in:

  • Wearable mode

  • Asset mode

Wearable mode (for track workers)

Asset mode (for assets such as marker boards/trolleys)

There is a lot of information on each project's devices table. You can easily edit how devices are assigned by interacting with this table. Find out more here πŸ‘ˆ

Location reporting/geotagging

I can't see the device's live location on the Dashboard or RAG view. What do I check?

Only devices assigned to the Dashboard in Asset mode will show on the Live map and RAG view.

You can view and change this from the "Devices" table on your project page:

Planning geofences (safe zones)

How do I create safe zones?

Click here to find out how to draw a safe zone manually - good for smaller safe zones such as access points and parking

Click here to find out how to automatically generate safe zones - good for large safe zones, or ones with complex curves

What tools are available for creating and editing safe zones?

How do I duplicate a site and its safe zone?

What is project review and approval?

All projects need to be approved before their sites with safe zones can be started, and geofencing can be used for the works. The project reviewer will be able to check the geofences and other site information to ensure that it's precisely planned in line with the safe work pack.

For more info on project approval, including who can approce projects and what revoked approval, click here πŸ‘ˆ

What is the project audit log?

The project audit log feature gives you an overview of changes that have been made to a specific project within your Dashboard. You'll see a clear timeline of actions taken and changes made to help with your project reports.

About user roles and permissions

Each user has specific permission that allows them to view and use Dashboard features needed for their job. You can choose to assign users a default role or create a custom role with unique permissions.

If you can not view a feature or perform a task on the Dashboard, this is likely due to not having the correct permission.

How do I access the Customer Zone?

Click the profile icon in the top right corner of your Dashboard πŸ‘‡

What browser does the Dashboard work on?

For the best experience, we recommend using Google Chrome πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’»
