Why set up reminders by provider calendar?
Provider calendars let you control reminders for each provider. For example, you can:
Turn off reminders for one provider's calendar.
Tell patients which provider their appointment is with in the reminder.
Let patients book with a provider in the Patient Portal.
Who can set up calendars?
Calendars are set up in Admin, so you need Admin access.
How do I create or edit a calendar?
In the left-hand menu, click Inbox.
Click Admin in the top right, then click Scheduling.
Click the Calendars tab.
Click an existing calendar to edit it, or click New to create one.
Enter or change the calendar's Title (name).
Set the days and times the calendar is available.
Click Save at the bottom.
Can patients book appointments on this calendar in the Patient Portal?
Yes, if your practice uses the Updox Patient Portal for scheduling. In the calendar's settings, turn on the option that lets patients view and select this calendar.
How do I turn off reminders for a calendar?
In the calendar's settings, check the box to not send reminders for this calendar, then click Save.
How do I include the calendar name in a reminder?
Add the [with] variable to your Reminder script. When the reminder is sent, [with] is replaced with the name of the patient's calendar.
Example: "You have an appointment [with] on [date]." becomes "You have an appointment with Dr. Smith on [date]."
What else can I do with provider calendars?
You can link a Public Waiting Room to a provider's calendar, so video visit reminders include the Waiting Room link.
