How long does Updox keep my messages?
Each practice has its own message retention settings. They control how long items stay in your Sent, Archive, and Trash folders.
Where do I see my practice’s retention settings?
In the Inbox, select Admin (top right).
Select Practice Settings.
Scroll down to the Message Archiving section.
This section shows how long your practice keeps messages in each folder.
Folder | What the setting controls |
Sent | How long sent items are kept |
Archive | How long archived items are kept |
Trash | How long deleted items are kept |
Note: Only admins can see Admin. If you don’t see it, ask an admin at your practice to check these settings.
I’m looking for an older message and can’t find it. What should I check?
Check your retention settings. If the message is older than the time your practice keeps items in that folder, it may no longer be there.
Check the right folder. Look in Sent, Archive, and Trash, not just the Inbox.
Clear your Inbox filters. In the filter bar across the top, make sure nothing is hiding the item. For example, open Tags and select All.
Search again. Use the search box to look for the patient’s name or the subject.
I get an error when I search. What should I do?
This can happen after an Updox update. To fix it:
Clear your browser’s cache and cookies. Set the time range to All time.
Close your browser completely.
Open your browser again, sign in to Updox, and try your search again.
