Profile pictures (sender avatars) can be added on Google Workspace mailboxes only. They are not available on SMTP mailboxes.
Why not on SMTP mailboxes
An SMTP mailbox that carries a profile picture is easier to "footprint" — it gives spam filters another consistent signal to fingerprint and flag the mailbox, which can hurt deliverability. To protect your sending, we intentionally don't add avatars to SMTP mailboxes.
Setting a picture on Google Workspace mailboxes
The picture is set on the Google Workspace mailbox itself. Use a clear, square image.
Use a static image (PNG/JPG) — animated GIFs are not supported as profile pictures.
It can take time to appear. Providers like Gmail cache sender avatars, so a newly set photo may not show right away for recipients or inside your sequencer.
If your photo still isn't showing after some time, contact us with the mailbox name and we'll check it. For sender display name (the name shown next to your address), see Profile picture and sender display name.
