This page is for practices that use Updox with DrChrono. Work through it in order. Skip any product your practice doesn’t have.
Signing in
Updox uses single sign-on with DrChrono.
Sign in on the Updox with DrChrono sign-in page with your DrChrono username and password.
Your Updox admin access matches your DrChrono admin status. Admins need the Manage Accounts permission in DrChrono.
Virtual printer: DrChrono users don’t have Updox passwords, and your DrChrono password won’t work with the printer. Use your practice’s Integration Key (Menu > Admin > Practice Information) or create printer credentials (Menu > Profile > Printer Credentials).
Managing users (admins)
Users appear under Menu > Admin > Users after they sign in to Updox for the first time.
Don’t edit the username, password, or admin status in Updox. DrChrono overwrites these.
After a user’s first sign-in, you can change their other settings, such as the default fax cover sheet.
Patients and contacts
Patients sync automatically from DrChrono.
Contacts don’t sync. Add them in the Address Book or upload a contact list.
Sending documents to DrChrono
Categories come from your DrChrono Task Categories.
Files appear in DrChrono under Patients > Documents > Uploaded Documents.
You can add a DrChrono document tag: up to 50 tags, 250 characters each, Latin characters only. See How do I create tags to attach to a patient document?
Your account can have up to 49 Updox tags in total.
Reminders tips (admins)
Updox pulls these from DrChrono:
Offices (as Locations)
Appointment Profiles (as Appointment Types)
One calendar per doctor
The patient’s preferred language (English or Spanish)
New and changed appointments sync almost immediately.
Recurring appointments don’t sync, and neither do appointments scheduled before Reminders was added.
Appointments set to Rescheduled still get reminders. Set them to Cancelled to stop reminders.
Calendar names come from DrChrono (provider name and office name).
Turning on Updox Reminders doesn’t turn off DrChrono reminders.
Broadcast tips (admins)
To broadcast to a list of patients, upload a patient list.
Required columns: Practice ID (PRN), First Name, Last Name, DOB, and Active (TRUE).
