Training Hub: Practice Fusion

Get started with Updox and Practice Fusion: signing in with Practice Fusion, setting up the virtual printer, sending documents to the chart, and tips for Reminders and Broadcast.

This page is for practices that use Updox with Practice Fusion. Work through it in order. Skip any product your practice doesn’t have.

Signing in

Updox uses single sign-on with Practice Fusion.

Virtual printer

Practice Fusion users don’t have Updox passwords, and your Practice Fusion password won’t work with the printer. Use one of these instead:

  • Your practice’s Integration Key (Menu > Admin > Practice Information)

  • Printer credentials you create (Menu > Profile > Printer Credentials)

Patients and contacts

  • Patients sync automatically from Practice Fusion.

  • Contacts don’t sync. Add them in the Address Book or upload a contact list.

Sending documents to Practice Fusion

  • Categories come from your Practice Fusion Document Types.

  • Files can be up to 25 MB.

  • Import with Sign files the item as Signed on the patient’s timeline. This requires Level 3 or 4 access in Practice Fusion.

  • Import without Sign files the item as Pending and sends the provider a task.

Reminders tips (admins)

  • Updox pulls facilities, appointment types, and one calendar per provider from Practice Fusion.

  • New and changed appointments sync quickly.

  • Recurring appointments don’t sync, and neither do appointments made before Reminders was added.

  • Patients need consent recorded on their Profile tab in Practice Fusion.

  • Patients can confirm an appointment from a reminder but can’t cancel.

  • Calendar names come from Practice Fusion. Updox Support can change this.

Broadcast tips (admins)

  • Only patients with a PRN and Practice Fusion consent can receive broadcasts. You can’t broadcast to contacts who aren’t patients.

  • You can upload a patient list from Practice Fusion as a CSV.

  • Updox can’t mask the phone number that reminder or broadcast calls come from.
