Training Hub: BestRx

Get started with Updox and BestRx: activating Updox in BestRx, signing in, and how faxing works between the two.

This page is for pharmacies that use Updox with BestRx. Work through it in order. Skip any product your pharmacy doesn’t have.

Activate Updox in BestRx

You only need to do this once, usually during your Updox onboarding session.

  1. After your onboarding is scheduled, Updox requests activation from BestRx. This takes 3–5 business days.

  2. Once BestRx confirms, go to Misc > Interface Setups > Updox Setup in BestRx. The Updox Integration Setup screen opens.

  3. Select the sync options in this order:

    1. Sync Users

    2. Sync Prescribers

    3. Sync Patients

The more data your pharmacy has, the longer the sync takes. When it’s done, your patients are available in Updox.

Signing in

Updox uses single sign-on with BestRx.

  • To open Updox, select Updox Login on the BestRx menu bar, or the Updox Login badge on the right side of BestRx.

  • Admins: users appear in Updox under Menu > Admin > Users after their first sign-in. You can then set restrictions or edit the user.

  • Virtual printer: BestRx users don’t have Updox passwords. Use your pharmacy’s Integration Key (Menu > Admin > Pharmacy Information) or create printer credentials (Menu > Profile > Printer Credentials).

Faxing in BestRx

  • Inbound faxes show in BestRx in the Inbound Fax Queue (under Misc). From there you can:

    • Fill a new prescription

    • Add the fax to the Intake Queue

    • Link it to an existing prescription

  • Outbound faxes don’t show in BestRx. Find them in Updox under Sent.
