Why This Matters
Change orders are a fact of life in contracting. Processing them correctly keeps your projects on budget, your financing in sync, and your customers informed about any scope changes.
What You'll Need
Admin access to SubcontractorHub
A web browser (Chrome or Edge recommended)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1
From your closed won proposal, click“Go To Project Detail”.
Step 2
Click“More” and select“Change Order”.
Step 3
Click“Yes”.
Step 4
You will be redirected to the change order proposal. You will notice that the proposal has a“Change order for” tag reflecting the ID of the original proposal. The change order is a copy of this original proposal.
Step 5
Update the proposal according to your requirements, for example, addingadders, batteries, or updating thesystem design. Remember tounfinalize the selected financing optionbefore making changes, andrefinalizeafter completing your updates.
Step 6
Click“Sign Now” to initiate the contract signing process. Once documents are signed and the proposal moves to the“Closed Won” stage, you will be able to access the updated project details under the original project ID. Note:If updating the design, please note that the design created in the change order proposal will not sync with the original proposal, meaning that the designs in both proposals will be different. Note:After unfinalizing financing, you can switch to a different design tool and redesign the solar layout using the“Change Design Tool” button.
Real-World Example
💡 When a customer adds a battery to their solar project mid-install, the project manager creates a change order that automatically updates the financing — keeping everything in sync without manual calculations.
