How to Use the Dual Financing Feature While Creating a Proposal?

Why is this important?

Dual Financing gives users more flexibility when building a solar proposal by combining a primary financing option with a secondary finance provider. This allows eligible prepaid amounts to be financed separately, helping teams structure proposals based on the available financing options while keeping the process within the same proposal workflow.

What do you need?

  • An existing or new customer in SubcontractorHub

  • A Solar proposal using the new flow

  • Maxwell Power selected as the primary finance provider under Prepaid Lease/PPA

  • Aven selected as the secondary finance provider

  • Completed proposal details, including:

    • Equipment

    • Design Tool

    • Capture

    • Utility

    • Rates

    • Consumption

    • Sites

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: From the main menu, click “Customers”.

Step 2: Create a new customer by clicking “New Customer,” or choose an existing customer from the list and create a new proposal for them. For this workflow, we will choose an existing customer and create a new proposal for them.

Step 3: Click “New Proposal”.

Step 4: Select Solar and click “Continue”.

Note: Right now, the dual financing feature is only available for solar proposals.

Step 5: Confirm the address or add a new one. Click “Next”.

Step 6: Select the installer and click “Next”.

Step 7: Under finance, select Prepaid Lease/ PPA, and choose Maxwell Power from the list. Click “Next”.

Step 8: Scroll down and select Aven under Secondary Finance. Click “Next”.

Step 9: Complete the remaining selections, including Equipment, Design Tool, Capture, Utility, Rates, Consumption, and Sites and click “Finish” to create the proposal.

Step 10: After confirming the design of the solar panels, click the Financing tab once the proposal details load.

Step 11: As part of the dual financing feature, the secondary finance partner "Aven" will pay the prepaid amount.

Step 12: Click “Finalize quote” to conclude the process.

Pro tip

Make sure you select the primary finance provider first, then choose the secondary finance provider under Secondary Finance. Before finalizing the quote, review the Financing tab to confirm that the prepaid amount is assigned to the secondary finance provider.

Real-life example

A solar company is creating a proposal for a homeowner using Maxwell Power as the primary financing option. The proposal also includes a prepaid amount that needs separate financing.

The sales representative selects Aven under Secondary Finance. Once the proposal is created and you open the Financing tab, Aven appears as the provider responsible for the prepaid amount. The team can then review the financing details and click Finalize quote to complete the proposal.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the Secondary Finance option.

Make sure you are creating a Solar proposal using the new flow. Dual Financing is currently limited to this proposal type.

I can't find Maxwell Power under Finance.

Confirm that Prepaid Lease/PPA is selected as the finance option before looking for Maxwell Power.

I can't find Aven under Secondary Finance.

Check that the primary financing selection has been completed and that Aven is available for the selected proposal and financing configuration.

The prepaid amount is not showing under the secondary finance provider.

Go to the Financing tab after the proposal details load and verify that Aven is selected as the secondary finance provider.

I can't finalize the quote.

Make sure all required proposal selections are completed and the solar design has been confirmed before clicking Finalize quote.
