How to connect Linear to Coworker

Connect Linear so Coworker can see your issues and project work. Either credential works: a workspace API key, individual connections, or both.

What Coworker can do with Linear

  • Index teams, projects, issues and issue discussion

  • Produce one report per project (split by team where relevant) with activity: issues created, progressed, completed and discussed, and who did the work. Inactive projects produce nothing.

  • Create and update Linear issues when a task explicitly requires it

Reports inherit the project's access policy, matching Linear's own visibility.

Before you start

  • Admins need a Linear API key and the workspace identifier

  • All credentials must belong to the same Linear workspace

Connect as an admin

  1. Open Data Sources from the admin settings in Coworker and select Linear.

  2. Paste the workspace API key and enter the workspace identifier.

  3. Save. This seeds broad, always-on coverage.

Connect as a member

  1. Go to the Work page and click Data Sources.

  2. Select Linear and complete the OAuth authorization.

Your connection establishes your own reach, including private teams and projects the workspace key cannot see.

Good to know

  • Revoking your token removes only your coverage — the workspace key remains the fallback for workspace-scoped metadata.

  • An API key from a different workspace can authenticate but return the wrong organization, so Coworker checks workspace identity before pooling credentials.

  • Linear connections may require periodic re-authentication.
