How to connect Google Drive to Coworker

Connect Google Drive and Gmail so Coworker can read the documents and email you have access to. This is a per-user (individual) connection — every person connects their own Google account.

What Coworker can do with Google Drive and Gmail

  • Index Drive files as searchable Documents, with full per-file permission mirroring

  • Read your Gmail messages to answer questions and draft follow-ups

  • Produce one activity report per document with meaningful activity: what was added or removed, who changed it, and how significant the edit was. Metadata-only touches, whitespace-only edits and temp files never produce a report.

  • Create and edit documents when a task explicitly calls for it

Relationships mirror Drive itself: owners, editors and viewers become Person entities linked to each file. Every report is visible only to the people who can already see the underlying file.

Before you start

  • You need an active Google account in your organization

  • Google Drive must not be blocked for your workspace by a Coworker admin

Connect as a member

  1. Go to the Work page at app.coworker.ai.

  2. Click Data Sources.

  3. Select Google Drive + Gmail under Available sources.

  4. Grant offline access and all requested Drive and Activity scopes.

Connect as an admin

There is no workspace-wide Drive connection that replaces individual grants. An admin can connect their own account like any member, or block the source from Source Settings. Good to know

  • Coverage is the union of connected users' Drive visibility. Shared-drive and private-file coverage grows as more people connect, and one revoked grant removes only that person's reach.

  • If you decline a scope, or Coworker adds a newly required one, you must reconnect — refreshing the token is not enough.

  • Folder hierarchies, revision histories and comment streams are deliberately kept out of the graph.
