Summary
By default, markup templates are available only to internal members. Based on the role you are assigned, you can see, edit, and create markups. If you do not see markup template tools you are looking for, reach out to your account admin to make sure you have the appropriate permissions.
One way of creating a markup template is from the Enterprise tools. Click Add Markup Template, give it a name and a description, and specify if you want this template to be available on all projects or specific projects.
Next, start by adding your markups by choosing from the list. If you don't find what you are looking for, you can choose Other, and edit the description. It is always advisable to use percentage instead of lumpsum, so the markups match the projects values. If you choose lumpsum, you might need to go back and edit it manually once you apply the markup template to a project or a value optioneering item.
The order you place these markup line items is very important. For example, the second markup line item can be a percentage of the first line item. Also, the second line item can be a percentage of the total project cost, which now includes the first line item, which by itself is a percentage of total project cost. This is known as iterative calculations which ConCntric supports.
You can adjust iterative markups calculations in the project settings.
You can always reorder the line items in a markup template. If you make any errors in the logic you previously created, ConCntric will alert you, and you can make any fixes before saving the new markup template.
The first place to use markup templates is after uploading an estimate. Instead of manually adding all markups, implement a markup template and ConCntric will automatically add them. Even if you applied a markup template, you can always edit those markups, to change them from percentage to lumpsum or vice versa, change their values, or delete them all together. These changes will only apply to this project and will not change the markup template.
This brings us to the second way of creating markup templates which is from the estimate page. After adding your markups, click Save as Template, give it a name, and specify if you want to save it for all projects. This pop up window is also governed by your level of permissions.
Another area where markup templates are used is Value Optioneering items. Here you can add markups from scratch, copy from estimate, or apply a markup template. As always, you can edit these markups and save a new markup template from this window.
You can also decide to apply this markup template to all new VO items. This can also be modified in the project settings.
