Overview
Document templates control what paperwork your team sends for each job. When configured correctly, reps stop guessing and customers get the right forms for their location and finance flow.
Why this matters first: Better template setup reduces rework, legal risk, and deal delays.
Prerequisites
Admin/database access
Template PDF/document details ready
Rules decided for state, job type, utility, and finance partner
Step-by-Step Instructions
Open Manage Database → Database.
Go to Documents → Document Templates.
Click Add.
Choose your document type.
Enable Is Project Doc if this should be available in projects.
Fill template basics (name, template ID, state, required fields).
Select the correct Finance Type (if applicable).
Click Save and validate template availability in a test project.
Pro Tips
💡 Keep naming consistent (ex: “CA - Solar Loan - Residential v2”).
⚠️ If a template should be shown in project flow, don’t forget Is Project Doc.
Real-World Example
A multi-state solar company creates separate project templates by state and finance partner. Sales no longer sends the wrong agreement package, and legal corrections drop significantly.
