Overview
When proposals use NREL design data, some lenders may require approval before financing can continue. This setup lets you control who can approve those designs and who gets alerted.
Why this matters first: You prevent non-compliant financing and keep lenders happy without chasing issues later.
💡 Industry term: NREL data source = design/production values based on NREL methodology used in solar proposals.
Prerequisites
Admin access to organization settings
Defined approver roles (manager, design lead, etc.)
Notification email inbox monitored by your team
Step-by-Step Instructions
Click your org profile and open Settings.
Go to NREL Settings and click Edit.
In NREL Approval Email Notifications, enter the recipient email.
In NREL Approval Roles, select roles allowed to approve.
Click Update to save.
Pro Tips
💡 Use a shared inbox (like approvals@) so requests are never stuck with one person.
⚠️ If no role is selected, approvals may stall and financing won’t move forward.
Real-World Example
A solar team allows only Design Manager and Ops Director roles to approve NREL-based proposals. Sales can still build proposals, but financing only proceeds after compliant review.
