Why does this matter?
Illinois Shines forms contain important information that needs to be accurate and complete before they can be used in a proposal.
The configuration in Document Manager lets you enter this information once and reuse it across your Illinois Shines documents. The General Form contains information that applies across vendors, while the Cash and Loan Deals form lets you configure details that can be used for cash and loan proposals.
This helps reduce repeated data entry, keeps information consistent, and makes it easier to prepare Illinois Shines documents when creating proposals.
What will you need?
Before setting up your Illinois Shines forms, make sure you have:
Access to Document Manager
Your organization's Illinois Shines information
Required business and legal details
Vendor-specific information for each vendor you added
Details needed for cash and loan proposals
Any required fees, utility rates, finance information, warranties, or other vendor-specific details
Important: Required fields must be completed before the Illinois Shines configuration can be used in a proposal.
Step by Step Instruction
Step 1: From the main menu, click “Document Manager” and select “IL Shines Configurations” from the dropdown.
Step 2: You will see individual forms for all the vendors you added. However, the general form will always be there, and the data you enter in this form will be used in all other forms, no matter the vendor. Click the “View Detail” icon to see the details of the form.
Step 3: Click “Edit” to change the data used in the form. The required fields need to be filled in order to use IL Shines in a proposal.
Step 4: Similarly, you will be able to use the cash and loan deals form to set up details that will be used in all cash and loan proposals.
Real-life scenario
A solar company works with three different Illinois Shines vendors.
Instead of entering the same organization information three times, the team first completes the General Form. This information is then available across all vendor forms.
The team then opens each vendor's individual form and adds information specific to that vendor. They also configure the Cash and Loan Deals form with the details that apply to their cash and loan proposals.
Later, when a sales rep creates an Illinois Shines proposal, the required information is already configured and can be used to complete the appropriate document.
This saves the team from repeatedly entering the same information for every proposal.
Pro tip
Complete the General Form first.
Since the General Form is used across all vendor forms, filling it out first gives you a strong starting point for your Illinois Shines configuration.
After that, review each vendor form and complete any vendor-specific required fields. Also make sure your Cash and Loan Deals information is configured if you create those types of proposals.
Troubleshooting
I can't use Illinois Shines in my proposal
Check the configuration form and make sure all required fields have been completed. An incomplete form cannot be used in a proposal.
Some information is missing from a vendor form
First, check the General Form. Information entered there is used across the other vendor forms. If the information is vendor-specific, enter it directly in that vendor's form.
I added a new vendor
A new vendor will have its own individual form. Open the vendor's form from IL Shines Configurations and complete all required fields before using that vendor in a proposal.
My cash or loan proposal is missing information
Open the Cash and Loan Deals form and check that the required details have been configured. This form controls information used for cash and loan proposals.
I updated the General Form
The General Form is shared across the vendor forms, so changes made there can affect the information used in other Illinois Shines configurations. Review the related forms after making important updates.
