PAD Splitting Rules: One Withdrawal, One Payment, One Card

Why you can't split a single PAD withdrawal across multiple subscriptions or credit cards, and workaround options.

Can One PAD Withdrawal Be Applied Across Two Subscriptions?

No. Chexy operates on a 1 withdrawal = 1 payment = 1 charge structure.

If a payee submits one single PAD withdrawal, it:

  • Must be matched to one Chexy payment

  • Must be charged once

  • Cannot be automatically split across multiple payments

Even if you have two active payments for the same payee, the system cannot divide one incoming withdrawal between them.

Why Does This Happen?

PAD matching is automated and tied to a single payment record, a single authorization, and a single charge event. This typically occurs when:

  • A payee combines two amounts into one lump-sum withdrawal

  • You created two Chexy payments expecting two separate withdrawals

  • The payee changed their billing structure

Your Options

If this happens, you can:

  1. Request a refund for the unmatched transaction through your account and request a charge for the deficit on the main account.

  2. Contact Chexy Support to match the full withdrawal to one payment and adjust the amount accordingly.

Going forward: Ask your payee to submit two separate PAD withdrawals so each one aligns to a separate Chexy payment, or create one single payment for the full amount.

Can I Split One PAD Withdrawal Across Two Credit Cards?

No. The same 1 withdrawal = 1 payment = 1 charge structure applies.

If a payee submits a single PAD withdrawal (e.g., $1,000), then:

  • It must be matched to one Chexy payment

  • It must be charged to one card

  • It cannot be split across multiple cards

Why?

PAD matching is automated and tied to a single payment, a single authorization, and a single charge event. Splitting would break reconciliation and compliance tracking.

Your Options

If you need to split the amount across cards:

  • Ask the payee to submit two separate withdrawals so you can assign each to a different card

  • Or settle outside Chexy using multiple cards manually
