Displaying point related info in Shopify's new account management system

How to give customers access to their points

Updated yesterday

Shopify is currently moving towards complete migration to the new account management system, and the sunset of the legacy account it said to be near.

In this page we will explain how easyPoints works with the new account system.

What is the difference?

The legacy account was based on emails and passwords, and had a very clear distinction between sign up users and guests. On the other hand the new account system only uses the email and the one-time passcode, and the concept of "sing-up" is no longer a thing.

How it effects easyPoints

easyPoints will experience the following changes

  1. Sing up rewards

Since signing up is no longer a thing, easyPoints will not be able to reward customers for their sign ups. Once migrated, sign up rewards will no longer be rewarded.

If you wish to continue the usage of the reward, please set up an automated flow in Shopify Flow, by using the customer created trigger.

  2. Account page modification

The new account system's customer page is generated by Shopify, and does not allow any modification through the theme code. Therefor, all customizations that took place in the account page in our theme integration support will no longer be available.

  3. Analytics

In our dashboard analytics feature, we display multiple values based on the comparison between signed up customers and others. This will also not be compatible with the new account system.

  • We are planning to renew the sign up reward in the near future to support all account systems.

  • Please refer to the following guide on ways to provide point info access to your customers.

Utilizing the easyPoints my account page feature in the new system

The easyPoints' my account page feature is a new feature that provides a single page via url, that includes all information related to the customers points and easyPoints features. It works smoothly with the new account system, providing a simple and easy flow.

Set up

  1. Enable the feature

Go to your theme customization page and enable easyPoints x SDK, and the my account page inside it. Check this article for more detailed instructions.

  2. Insert the URL in the desired position (e.g. inside the account page menu bar)

This URL can be inserted anywhere. As an example the following guide will explain how to place it inside your account page menu bar for the new account management system.

Access the checkout settings in your Shopify admin, and click on "customize"

Switch t he pulldown at the top to "Profile", and click "Header" on the left menu.

    Click "Edit".

Add a content in the menu, and decide the name. Finally, please enter /apps/loyalty/my-account as the URL and save your settings.

The easyPoints my account page feature works with theme integrations, the widget and app blocks. If you are subscribed to a payed plan, combining it with the theme integration feature is considered the most powerful way of using it.
