A treatment records the product being used, the animals being treated, the dose plan and any milk or meat withholding periods. You can then record each dose as it is administered and keep track of what is still due.
The app also gives you access to your farm’s Medicine Cabinet, where you can keep track of product batches, remaining amounts and expiry dates.
Before you start
The Animal Health module needs to be turned on for your farm.
Your user permissions need to allow you to record Animal Health events.
If Animal Health Event is greyed out under Quick Add, ask your account owner to check that the Animal Health module is turned on for the farm and that your user permissions are set correctly.
Mob names and animal numbers come from your completed reporting, so keep your reports up to date.
Record a treatment
Tap the + button in the bottom menu.
Tap Animal Health Event.
Choose the Farm.
Tap Create new treatment.
Choose the treatment date.
Under Administered to, choose All animals, Mob or Animals, then check the number of animals being treated.
Choose the Product. If you already have batches of that product in your Medicine Cabinet, these will be available as part of the treatment process.
Choose the dose option you want to use. Where Trev has default information on record for the product and animal type, it can pre-populate the dose rate, treatment frequency and milk and meat withholding periods. Choose Custom if you need to enter different treatment details.
Add a condition, reference, notes or photos if needed.
Save the treatment.
Trev will take you to the treatment’s Doses tab so you can record each dose as it is given.
Important: Always check the dose rate, treatment instructions and withholding information on the label for the specific product batch you’re using. Information shown in Trev is there to help with recording and does not replace the product label.
Record a dose
Open the treatment and tap Doses.
Tap Add Dose, or tap Edit beside a pending dose.
Confirm whether the dose has been administered and enter the date.
Check the Dose rate.
Choose the Batch number used.
Check the amount Trev will deduct from the batch.
Tap Save.
If you’re partway through a treatment course, you can also tap +, then Animal Health Event, then Update doses on a treatment and select the treatment you need.
View your Medicine Cabinet
Tap More in the bottom menu.
Tap Inventories.
Tap Medicine Cabinet.
Use the filters to switch between Product Remaining, Expired, Disposed and All.
Each batch shows the amount remaining and its expiry date.
To add a batch, tap +, choose Product Batch, then enter the product, batch number, amount and expiry details.
Find an existing treatment
Tap More, then Manage Events, then Animal Health Events.
Use the filters to switch between:
All
Active
Planned
Complete
Draft
Each treatment shows the product, dose progress and withholding information.
Animal Health treatments can also be viewed from the Calendar.
Treatment statuses
A treatment remains Planned until its first dose is administered.
It becomes Active while doses are being worked through and Complete once all doses have been administered.
Animal Health information recorded in the app syncs back to Trev on the web the next time your phone has a connection. Your Medicine Cabinet is also updated as doses are recorded against product batches.
Why is Trev asking me to check the product information?
Trev maintains default dose rates and withholding periods for a range of Animal Health products. These defaults can vary depending on the product and animal type, and Trev applies a data quality rating based on how complete the information we have on record is.
You may see different prompts depending on the quality of the information available:
Complete: Trev has complete default information on record. You should still check the details on the packaging of the specific product batch you’re using.
Partial: Trev has some default withholding and/or broach-period information on record. Check the product packaging before using the defaults.
Incomplete: Trev has limited default withholding and/or broach-period information on record. Check the product packaging carefully before using the information shown in Trev.
Regardless of the rating, the product label should always be treated as the source of truth.
Troubleshooting
Why can’t I find a product or its default treatment details?
Trev maintains default dose rates and withholding periods for a range of Animal Health products. New products and changes to existing product information are added over time.
First, make sure you’re using the latest version of the Trev app. If the product you’re using still isn’t available, or the dose or withholding defaults you need aren’t shown, get in touch with the Trev team and we can request that the product information is added or updated.
We may ask you for information from the product label or packaging, including:
the product name
the animal type
dose rate and units
number and frequency of doses
meat withholding period
milk withholding period
a photo of the product label or a link to the manufacturer’s product information
Why does a treatment say it’s locked?
The treatment may use a product that isn’t available in the version of the Trev app you’re using. Update Trev from the App Store or Google Play and check again.
