How to Reactivate Your Account and Request a New IBAN After Archiving

Updated this week

If an IBAN shows no activity for a period of time, it may be archived. This is only an administrative status change and does not affect your funds or your main account.

Key points:

  • Inactive or empty currency IBANs may be archived

  • This does not close your account

  • Your main account always remains active

  • Your funds are safe, accessible, and fully yours

  • Archiving only affects the IBAN details, not your balance

If you’re using your account purely for savings and not making transactions, no action is required from you.

Need to Use the Account Again? Reactivation Is Easy

You can request a new IBAN at any time directly in the app.

To reactivate:

  1. Tap the “+” icon on the Home screen under Accounts
(or go to the Home screen and use the account switching area)

  2. Select “Request a new IBAN.”

New IBAN details will be issued, and you can continue using the account as normal.

What if someone sends money to an archived IBAN?

If a payment is mistakenly sent to archived IBAN details:

  • The transfer will be automatically reversed

  • The funds will not be credited to the archived IBAN

  • The return process can take up to 2 business weeks, depending on the sending bank

We recommend always using your latest IBAN details from the app to avoid delays.
