When funds are sent to you via nsave from outside Syria, you can receive them in cash USD from National Islamic Bank (NIB) or Al Baraka Bank. You can choose whichever bank is most convenient for you and select the branch closest to you.
Before you start: Ensure the sender has completed the transfer via nsave and provided you with the pickup code, as you will need it when visiting the branch (and when booking an appointment if you choose National Islamic Bank).
Which Bank Should You Choose?
You can collect your funds from either bank based on your preference:
Al Baraka Bank: Does not require advance booking—you can go directly to the branch.
National Islamic Bank (NIB): Requires booking an appointment online before visiting the branch.
All other procedures and required documents are identical for both banks.
What You Will Need for Pickup
Pickup Code provided by the sender.
Syrian National ID (or Passport).
Current address in Syria.
Phone number.
Occupation or employer name.
Full legal name (three-part name) of the sender.
Note: You do not need a bank account at either bank. The branch acts solely as a cash payout point.
Step 1: Book an Appointment (For NIB Only)
National Islamic Bank (NIB) requires an advance booking before visiting the branch to pick up funds.
Access the booking website: booking.nib.com.sy
Select the pickup service via Shift or nsave (do not select MoneyGram).
Choose the nearest branch from the list.
Select a suitable date and time.
Enter your pickup code and confirm the booking.
Note: You may need to use a VPN to access the booking website from within Syria
Step 2: Visit the Branch
At your scheduled time (or anytime during working hours for Al Baraka), go to your selected branch. Upon arrival, present the following to the agent:
Pickup code
National ID or Passport
Personal details (Address, Phone Number, Occupation)
Sender’s full name
Once verified, the agent will hand you your cash in USD.
Reminder: The pickup network name is Shift (not MoneyGram).

Pickup Limits
There are currently two practical limits on cash pickups in Syria via NIB and Al Baraka Bank:
Maximum $1,000 per transfer transaction.
Maximum $5,000 within a rolling 30-day period.
Example: If a sender attempts to transfer $3,000 in a single transaction, it will be rejected for exceeding the per-transfer limit. In such cases, it is best to split the total into multiple transfers.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do I need an account at either bank to receive money?
No. You do not need an existing bank account, nor will an account be opened in your name. The branch functions solely as a pickup location for cash transfers sent via nsave (through the Shift network). You can collect the full amount in cash USD and leave.
Can I pick up funds without booking an appointment?
Al Baraka Bank: No appointment needed—walk-ins are accepted.
National Islamic Bank (NIB): NIB typically requires an online booking prior to pickup, though policies may vary slightly by location. We recommend contacting your local branch to confirm if walk-ins are allowed.
Can I collect funds from banks other than Al Baraka or NIB?
Currently, cash pickup is limited to National Islamic Bank (NIB) and Al Baraka Bank as authorized partners. We are actively working to add more banking partners and payout options in the future.
