How to receive your money in cash from National Islamic Bank in Syria

A step-by-step guide to receiving your money in cash from National Islamic Bank (NIB) in Syria — without needing to open a bank account — including booking an appointment, required documents, exchange rates, and timing.

When someone sends you money through nsave from outside Syria, you can receive it in cash in Syrian Pounds (SYP) at one of National Islamic Bank's (NIB) branches. This guide walks you through the steps, from booking your appointment to collecting the cash.

Before you begin: Make sure the sender has completed the transfer through nsave and that you have received the pickup code they shared with you — you'll need it both when booking your appointment and when visiting the branch.

What you need

  • The pickup code sent to you by the person who transferred the money

  • Your Syrian national ID (or passport)

You do not need a bank account with National Islamic Bank (NIB). The branch is only a cash pickup point.

Step 1: Book an appointment

NIB requires you to book an appointment in advance before visiting the branch to collect the money.

  1. Go to the booking website: booking.nib.com.sy

  2. Choose the pickup service via Shift or nsave (not MoneyGram).

  3. Select the branch nearest to you from the list.

  4. Choose a date and time that suit you.

  5. Enter the pickup code and confirm the booking.

Note: You may need to use a VPN to access the booking website from inside Syria. This is normal and nothing to worry about.

Step 2: Visit the branch

At your scheduled appointment, go to the branch you selected. After your information is confirmed, the staff member will hand you the amount in cash in Syrian Pounds.

FAQs

Do I need an account with National Islamic Bank to receive the money?

No. You don't need any bank account, and no account will be opened for you. The branch acts only as a cash pickup point for money sent through nsave. You collect the full amount in cash in Syrian Pounds and leave.

Can I go without booking an appointment?

NIB usually requires an appointment to be booked in advance through its website before collecting money, though procedures may vary from one branch to another. We recommend contacting the branch nearest to you to confirm whether you can collect without a prior appointment.

Can I collect from a bank other than NIB?

Currently, National Islamic Bank (NIB) is the only partner. We will add other banks gradually.
