Recommended Road App Hardware Specifications

Hauler Hero does not offer Customer Success support for hardware, but we can share our learnings from our Hauler Heroes. Heroes include Fleet Operations Directors, General Managers, Owner Operators and Drivers with experience in the truck.

Overall our Heros report better performance and durability using a rugged tablet in the field versus a consumer grade tablet. We've outlined the specifications and some recommendations below.

Data Plan

You will need a data plan added to the tablet through a local cellular provider. Always check the coverage map for your driver’s routes to ensure you select the best plan for your operation. Verizon is usually the best option, but some areas have better results with T-Mobile or AT&T. Your carrier will often give you tablets for free with a data subscription. You should sign up immediately once placing your deposit for Hauler Hero, and pause your data subscription pending your go-live.

A few of our customers are using a Verizon business plan - it’s a data pool that the tablets share or you can get unlimited in some deals. Cost for data ends up being about $20/tablet and we encourage you to start looking at Verizon or your best local coverage provider (ATT, TMobile) first before buying tablets. Often the data carrier will throw in the tablets for next to free with new data plans.
