How to Bulk Move Stops Between Routes

This article explains how to move multiple stops from one route to another on a specific day (either temporarily or for all future stops of the services).

Updated yesterday

Using the bulk action tool is an efficient way to rebalance driver workloads or make temporary adjustments to your daily routes.

You can use this method to move stops between routes for a single day or you can update the Master Sequence and all future stops of these services.

How to Bulk Move Stops Between Routes on a Specific Day (Temporary, One Time)

You can either follow the process laid out here: “Bulk Temporary Route Move

or:

  1. From the Hauler Hero office app, select the Routes tab.

  2. From the Route manager page, in the top right corner, click the blue Bulk button.

  3. Select Move between routes from the dropdown menu.

  4. In the Select a date pop-up, confirm the service date for which you want to move stops and click Next.

  5. On the Move stops between routes screen, click the Select a route dropdown in the Move from section on the left and choose the route that currently has the stops you want to move.

  6. Click the Select a route dropdown in the Move to section on the right and choose the destination route for the stops.

  7. Select the stops you wish to move. You can do this in two ways:

    1. Checking the boxes next to each stop in the list (When selecting the stops you want to move, you can hold Shift and ctrl/cmd to select multiple in a row all at once!) or

    2. Shift + dragging a selection box over the pins on the map. (see How to Select and Deselect Multiple Stops on a Map)

  8. Click the Move button at the top of the Move from column.

  9. In the Sequence pop-up, choose how you want the moved stops to be ordered in the new route. You will have the option to reorder again after moving the route, too, don’t worry.

    1. Click Preserve sequence to keep their existing order. If you select this, you must also enter a value for Starting position. OR...

    2. Click Reset sequence to re-optimize. All the moved stop positions set to 0 and go at the top of the route.

  10. To apply these changes for the selected day only one time, click the Save current day button at the bottom of the screen. It will prompt you to confirm and then take you back to the main Routes tab page.

    1. Note: Save current day does not affect future stops of these services—only the current route day/date you’re working on. If you want to instead preserve this change for all future instances of this day, see the Master Sequence directions below.

How to Bulk Move Stops Between Routes on a Specific Day in the Master Sequence

Once you’ve followed the steps above to configure which stops you want to move from which route, instead of clicking Save current day, you’ll want to update the Master Sequence to update the route’s template for future scheduling of this daily occurrence:

  1. Select either Publish master sequence or Edit master sequence.

    1. Clicking Publish master sequence will prompt you to confirm and then take you back to the main Routes tab. You’re done! You’ve made this a permanent change that affects all future occurrences of this route.

    2. If you choose Edit master sequence, it will take you to the Master Sequence draft page.

  2. Make any sequencing and routing changes you need and then click Update.

  3. It will prompt you to choose your publish destination and click Publish to finalize the changes.

Map Tips:

  • Want to quickly zoom in on a stop on the map? Click the map icon 🗺️ next to the stop in the route list.

  • Choose your view at the top left: Map or Satellite.

  • Toggle the Sequence line on or off to see the route lines.

  • Lines and Border colors are specific to the route color.

  • At the top right of the map, you’ll see buttons for All, and then the “Move from” route and “Move to” route. You can choose to view All stops, or focus in on one specific route by clicking the corresponding button.

  • If you choose not to sequence a move, the marker will be blank with an orange outline:

  • Once you add a sequence, the color will change to the route color and have the sequence number inside it.
