Create shorthand codes for documenting termite inspection findings

Written by Rosie O'hara

Summary

A Termite Finding Code is a short shorthand that expands into standard wording for something a tech observes during a termite or WDO inspection — live activity, damage, conducive conditions, and so on. Instead of retyping findings on every inspection, the tech enters a quick code, and the full, standard text fills in. This speeds up inspections, keeps your finding language consistent, and makes your termite reports and graphs clear and audit-ready.

Key Points

  • Each entry pairs a short Code with the full finding Text it expands to

  • Techs enter the code on the mobile app while documenting a termite inspection

  • Standardized findings keep termite reports and graphs consistent and defensible

How to Get to Termite Finding Codes

  1. From the top of the Navigation menu, click on Settings (gear icon)

How to Create a Termite Finding Code

Click the New Termite Finding button in the upper right, then fill in both fields:

  1. Code — the short shorthand techs will type or place on the graph (keep it brief and easy to remember).

  2. Text — the full, standard wording the code expands to on the inspection record.

  3. Click the green Create button to save.

Tips for Setting Up Termite Finding Codes

  • Keep codes short and standardized so techs can place them quickly on a graph or report.

  • Write the text exactly as it should read to clients and on legal documents — termite/WDO reports are often part of real estate transactions, so precise, consistent wording matters.

  • Cover your common findings — live activity, mud tubes, prior treatment evidence, damage, and conducive conditions like moisture or wood-to-soil contact.

Examples

Common termite findings include:

  • Live termite activity

  • Termite damage (visible)

  • Mud tubes/shelter tubes

  • Evidence of previous treatment

  • Conducive conditions — moisture

  • Conducive conditions — wood-to-soil contact

  • No visible evidence observed

Important Note: Anytime you change something in Settings, your techs must Reload Data in the mobile app to see the change.
